Pacific 19 or Royal Kona

Hi. Which would you recommend for 3 nights, Dec 31 - Jan 3, Pacific 19 or Royal Kona? We already have a condo booked for Jan 3 through Jan 11. Decided to leave earlier so looking for a hotel for those first 3 nights.

Thank you in advance for your recommendations

Both Pacific 19 and Royal Kona are solid options for a 3-night stay in Kailua-Kona, and each has its unique attributes. Below is a comparison of the two to help you make an informed decision:

Pacific 19:

  • Location: Pacific 19 is located a little further south of Kailua-Kona, offering more of a boutique, intimate vibe. It’s a small, modern hotel with ocean views and a more relaxed atmosphere, making it ideal for those looking for a quieter, more personal stay.
  • Style: This hotel has a contemporary, minimalist design, making it a great choice if you enjoy modern décor. The rooms are clean and stylish, and the property has a very laid-back, chic feel.
  • Facilities: Pacific 19 doesn’t have as many amenities as larger resorts, but it offers a lovely outdoor pool and a rooftop deck with great views of the ocean and sunsets.
  • Pros: Quiet, boutique-style hotel with a modern feel. Great for those looking to relax in a smaller setting with less foot traffic. Ideal if you prefer a more private experience and don’t need extensive resort amenities.
  • Cons: Limited amenities and no direct beach access (though it’s close to the water). It might not have the same “resort experience” if that’s what you’re looking for.

Royal Kona Resort:

  • Location: The Royal Kona is in a prime location on Kailua Bay, right in the heart of the action. It’s closer to restaurants, shopping, and popular attractions like the Kailua-Kona Pier. The hotel is right on the water, so you'll have great access to the beach.
  • Style: Royal Kona has a more traditional Hawaiian resort feel with lush gardens, oceanfront views, and a large pool area. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped, though the décor is more classic than modern.
  • Facilities: The Royal Kona Resort has a range of amenities, including a large outdoor pool, a swim-up bar, tennis courts, and an oceanfront restaurant. It’s a full-service resort that offers more in terms of dining, recreation, and services.
  • Pros: Larger resort with more facilities, great oceanfront location, easy access to nearby shops and restaurants, and a more “classic” Hawaiian resort feel. Good if you want to be closer to the town center.
  • Cons: Larger crowds and potentially more noise, especially around the pool areas. The resort feel may not be as intimate or relaxed as Pacific 19.

Which to choose?

  • If you’re looking for a more peaceful, boutique-style experience with a focus on relaxation and modern design, Pacific 19 might be your best option.
  • If you prefer a more traditional Hawaiian resort experience with easy access to the town, more facilities, and a larger property, then Royal Kona Resort would be a better fit.

Both places have their merits, so it really depends on the kind of atmosphere you're hoping for during those three nights. If you’re in the mood for something quieter and more intimate, Pacific 19 would be a great choice. But if you want more resort amenities and to be close to the action, Royal Kona is your pick.

Either way, both options should offer a great base for your stay in Kailua-Kona, and you'll have an unforgettable time in the area!
