Space 220?

We have people who are susceptible to vertigo and dizziness. Can anyone describe the "ride" up to the dining area? Would it be something that would trigger dizziness?

Thanks!

Space 220 is a unique dining experience at EPCOT where guests "ascend" to a space station 220 miles above Earth. The experience includes a simulated space elevator ride, which gives the illusion of traveling from the ground to orbit.

Here’s what to expect regarding the ride and potential triggers for dizziness or vertigo:

  • The ride is completely stationary and occurs inside an enclosed elevator-like cabin.
  • Visuals on large screens simulate the ascent, showing Earth from the ground rising into orbit. This creates a sensation of movement but there is no actual motion.
  • There is no spinning, jerking, or physical tilting of the elevator—everything is a visual effect.
  • The experience is calm and relatively slow, lasting just a few minutes to reach the dining area.

Additional considerations:

  • People sensitive to motion sickness might notice mild disorientation due to the realistic visuals, but most guests do not find it triggering.
  • Seating in the dining area itself is standard; the rest of the experience is like a normal restaurant once you arrive.
  • Guests who are extremely prone to vertigo or anxiety might prefer to be seated near a wall or in a spot where they can focus on a fixed point if the visuals feel overwhelming.

Overall, while the ride simulates ascending into space, it is gentle and generally safe for those with mild vertigo or dizziness. The sensation is more visual than physical, so for most, it should not trigger severe discomfort.
