Looking for accommodations for 9 near Universal

Will be traveling to Orlando the first week in may for 1 week. There are 9 people in my party so I am in search of 4-5 bedroom condo near Universal. I would like to be pretty close if possible with out breaking the bank. Any suggestions.........

Great question. Finding a 4- or 5-bedroom place for 9 people near Universal Orlando can be a bit tricky, but there are some solid vacation rental options and resort-condos that can meet your needs without breaking the bank. Here are several suggestions plus things to watch for.

Top Rental Options for 9 People Near Universal

  • Spectrum Resort Orlando (Reunion, Kissimmee area)
    • This resort-residence offers 3- to 5-bedroom condominiums/townhomes (per its listing via Choice Hotels/Rentyl).
    • A 5-bedroom unit could comfortably accommodate your group of 9.
    • Resort amenities include clubhouse, pool, laundry, and access to Reunion’s golf and spa.
    • The trade-off: Reunion is a little further out from Universal than Kissimmee vacation homes, so budget for extra driving time.
  • Westgate Vacation Villas (Kissimmee)
    • Located at 4000 Westgate Blvd.
    • This resort has many large villas (4–5 bedrooms are common) that would fit 9 people.
    • They offer resort amenities: numerous pools, hot tubs, a game room, and scheduled transportation to parks per their resort brochure.
    • Because it's a resort-style villa community, it often feels more spacious and “residential” vs. a typical hotel.
  • Vacation Homes via Orlando Vacation Homes
    • The website lists many larger homes/townhomes near Universal (and other parks) with 4- and 5-bedroom options.
    • You can filter for “sleeps 9+” or exactly 5 bedrooms, depending on how the rooms are configured.
    • These homes usually have full kitchens, living areas, and possibly private or shared pools — making them ideal for your group size.
  • Airbnb / VRBO Homes
    • There are 4-bedroom homes on VRBO, such as a villa in Kissimmee with a private pool that sleeps up to 8 (you may need to check if an extra guest is allowed or request a rollaway).
    • An Airbnb listing offers a family condo in Kissimmee that is about 20 minutes from Universal, and though it's smaller, some similar listings may have 4–5 beds and good reviews.
    • With Airbnb/VRBO, you’ll likely have a car — which is really helpful for getting to Universal and around Orlando, plus it gives your group flexibility.

What to Watch For / Booking Tips

  • Make sure to check distance to Universal when looking: some “Orlando” houses are closer to Disney than to Universal, which could add driving time.
  • Look at total costs, not just nightly rate: vacation homes will often have cleaning fees, resort fees, or “pool heat” charges.
  • Ask for the *exact layout*: 9 people is large, so confirm how many beds, bedrooms, and bathrooms there actually are.
  • Read recent reviews: Things like property management, cleanliness, and amenities (pool, laundry) can vary a lot.
  • Early booking helps: A 4- or 5-bedroom rental in May might be in high demand, so secure your spot sooner rather than later.

My Recommendation: If I were in your shoes, I’d lean toward the Westgate Vacation Villas or a 5-bedroom townhome/condo in Spectrum Resort. Both give your group enough space, good amenities, and a relatively reasonable cost per person. The Orlando Vacation Homes options are also strong — especially if you want something more “private home” style — just verify the layout and drive time to Universal.

Hope this helps you lock in something great — have an amazing trip!
