Universal accommodation

Hi everyone.

I cant seem to make sense of this so im after your help.

We have been about 10 times and always stayed in a private villa, this time we are looking at staying on site at universal to take advantage of the fast pass option.

There will be a family of four so ideally 1 double and two singles and two people who would require two single beds.

Has any one done this ?

We could take a suite that accommodates 6 people if that exists.

Cant make much sense of the universal site.

Any help would be appreciated,

Staying on-site at Universal Orlando is a great choice if you want to take advantage of the Universal Express Pass, early park access, and overall convenience. It can be a bit confusing when trying to figure out the right room configuration for a family of four, especially when considering suites that can accommodate six people.

Room Options for a Family of Four: Universal has three main categories of on-site hotels: Premier, Preferred, and Value. The room configurations can vary:

  • Premier Hotels (Loews Portofino Bay, Hard Rock Hotel, Loews Royal Pacific): These typically offer rooms with either two queen beds or suites that can sleep up to six. Suites often have a separate living area with a sleeper sofa and may include two bathrooms. Ideal if you want a mix of bed types.
  • Preferred Hotels (Loews Sapphire Falls, Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort – Preferred sections): Rooms generally have two queen beds, but the family suites at Cabana Bay can sleep up to six, with two queen beds and a sleeper sofa, plus a kitchenette.
  • Value Hotels (Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort standard rooms): Standard rooms sleep up to four with two double beds. Family suites sleep up to six with two queen beds, a sleeper sofa, and a kitchenette.

Considerations:

  • For your group (1 double, 2 singles, plus 2 singles), the easiest solution is probably a family suite that sleeps six. These suites usually have two beds in the main room plus a living area with a sleeper sofa. You can request bed preferences, but the exact configuration may vary, so confirm when booking.
  • Booking directly on the Universal site allows you to see room availability and exact bed types. Use the filters for “family suite” to simplify your search.
  • Some hotels, like Loews Portofino Bay or Royal Pacific, offer multiple room types within suites, and the concierge can help assign beds to match your family’s needs.

Tips:

  • Call the hotel directly if the online site is confusing—Universal staff can clarify exact room layouts and help with bed preferences.
  • Consider your budget vs convenience: Premier hotels have more amenities and fully included Express Passes, whereas Value and Preferred options require purchasing Express Pass separately unless offered in a package.
  • Check if you really need all six sleepers; sometimes two adults on a queen and two children on the sleeper sofa works perfectly and saves cost.

In summary, for a family of four who wants flexibility in beds, a family suite at Cabana Bay Beach Resort or a suite at a Premier hotel is your best bet. These rooms typically accommodate six guests comfortably and give you the benefit of Universal Express Pass access when staying on-site.
