Where to stay in summer

I’m a little overwhelmed with the amount of lodging options. We will be in Keystone in August and are wondering the best place to stay with this criteria:

- condo, 2 bedrooms with balcony (nature view rather than village)

- nature feel with smaller buildings rather than a lodge or hotel feel, located by the river would be great (nature feel is our tip priority)

- walkable to an outdoor pool

- walkable to the village

- budget is max $300/night

Any recommendations on what would be the best fit for us? Thank you!

Keystone in the summer offers a mix of high-rise hotels, condo complexes, and smaller vacation properties. Based on your criteria—2-bedroom condo with balcony, nature focus, smaller buildings, proximity to outdoor pool and the village, and budget around $300/night—here’s a detailed overview of good options:

Since you prefer a nature-oriented experience over being in the heart of the village, properties along the Snake River or near the Keystone Lake trails tend to provide more greenery, river sounds, and mountain views while still keeping you within walking distance of pools and the village amenities.

  • River Run Condominiums: Several buildings along the Snake River offer 2-bedroom condos with balconies overlooking the river. These are generally smaller buildings compared to the large hotels, and you can walk to the River Run village area and the outdoor pool. Look for units in low-rise buildings rather than the main lodge tower.
  • Lakeside Villas at Keystone: Located slightly west of the main village area, these condos are near Keystone Lake and trails, providing a nature feel. Some 2-bedroom units have balconies with scenic views. Pools are accessible within walking distance, and the village is reachable via a short walk or bike ride.
  • Mountain House Condos: A small complex tucked near the river and forested areas, offering a quieter, more private setting. Some units have balconies with nature views. Pools are often part of the community, and the village is a short walk away.

Additional tips to maximize your stay:

  • When booking, specifically filter for 2-bedroom units with balconies and “river view” or “mountain view” to get the nature-oriented experience you want.
  • Check the distance to the nearest outdoor pool, as some condo communities have pools a short walk away rather than on-site.
  • Consider renting directly from local property management companies (e.g., Keystone Resort Lodging, Vacasa, or local property owners) to find units within your budget, as August can be high season.
  • If flexibility is possible, mid-week stays sometimes allow better rates on 2-bedroom condos within $300/night range.

Overall, your best fit is likely a smaller condo building along the Snake River or near Keystone Lake, giving you a nature-oriented retreat while keeping the village and pools within a short walk.
