Hotel near ESPN Wide World of Sports

Looking for a hotel near ESPN complex. I have a child participating in an event at the complex, and she will be staying with her team. Need a place nearby. Will not have a car, so looking for a short Uber ride. Disney resort is not worth it just for me. Would like something nice, comfortable and relaxing.

If you’re looking for a comfortable and relaxing hotel near the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando without staying on Disney property, you have several convenient options that are a short Uber ride away. Staying off-property can be more economical while still offering comfort, pools, and amenities suitable for a solo adult accompanying a child.

The ESPN Wide World of Sports is located inside the Walt Disney World Resort, near the south end of the property. Being off-property means you can avoid Disney resort prices but still reach the complex quickly by ride-share.

Here are some recommended areas and hotels:

  • Kissimmee Gateway Area: Located south of Disney property, this area has many hotels with pools, suites, and free breakfast. It’s a short Uber ride (10-15 minutes) to ESPN. Examples include:
    • Holiday Inn Express & Suites Kissimmee West
    • Hampton Inn Orlando/Kissimmee Gateway
    • Best Western Plus Kissimmee
  • Formosa Gardens / Buena Vista Drive Area: These neighborhoods have a mix of hotels and vacation rentals. Close to Disney Springs and typically 10 minutes to ESPN:
    • Floridays Resort Orlando – suites with kitchen, ideal for relaxing
    • Sheraton Vistana Resort Villas – spacious and quiet
    • Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress – upscale option with resort amenities
  • Lake Buena Vista Area: Slightly further north but still convenient; offers many well-maintained hotels:
    • DoubleTree by Hilton Orlando – Lake Buena Vista
    • Residence Inn by Marriott Orlando Lake Buena Vista
    • Courtyard by Marriott Orlando Lake Buena Vista

Tips:

  • Uber or Lyft rides from these areas to ESPN typically take 10-20 minutes depending on traffic. Late afternoon pick-ups may take slightly longer during peak park hours.
  • Check if the hotel offers a shuttle to Disney Springs or other Disney areas – sometimes they can also offer transport near ESPN events.
  • Look for hotels with pools and a quiet environment so you can relax while your child participates in activities.
  • Consider booking a suite or larger room if you want extra space to unwind comfortably for multiple days.

Overall, the Kissimmee Gateway and Formosa Gardens areas provide the best balance of proximity to ESPN, comfort, and value, without requiring a car.
