Droid making in Hollywood Studios
Does anyone know the droid dimensions and weight of the finished droid? We have to be sure we can bring this home.
Thanks!
The Droid Depot at Disney’s Hollywood Studios allows guests to build their own custom droid, such as an R-series or BB-series unit. These droids are fully functional toys with moving parts, but they are designed to be portable and suitable for taking home.
Approximate dimensions and weight of the finished droid:
- Height: About 12 inches (30 cm) for standard droids like BB-series or R-series units.
- Width/Diameter: Roughly 6–7 inches (15–18 cm) across, depending on the model and accessories attached.
- Weight: Approximately 1–2 pounds (0.45–0.9 kg), making it easy to carry in a bag or suitcase.
Additional considerations:
- The droid comes in two halves that snap together, making it easy to transport. You can disassemble certain parts to fit it into luggage more securely.
- It is packaged in a box at the end of the build, which provides additional protection for travel home.
- Most standard checked or carry-on baggage can accommodate the droid without any issues, but it’s a good idea to place it in a padded area or wrap it in clothes to avoid damage.
Overall, the finished droid is compact, lightweight, and designed for guests to easily take home from Hollywood Studios.
