child car seats

hi

we will be traveling in april with a 2yr old and a 4yr old using uber mostley,, will they provide the required seats or do i need to bring them

thanks in advance

When visiting Orlando with young children, it’s very important to understand Florida’s car seat laws and what rideshare companies like Uber actually offer. In general, you should not assume Uber will provide the car seats you need, especially when traveling with more than one child who requires them.

Florida Car Seat Law highlights:

Florida requires that children:

  • Age 0–3: Must ride in a separate car seat (rear-facing or forward-facing appropriate for size/age).
  • Age 4–5: Must ride in a car seat or a booster seat.

These laws apply in all cars — including Ubers and taxis. If the car is stopped, the passenger is responsible for seat compliance.

Using Uber in Orlando with small children:

Uber does offer the option called Uber Car Seat (also sometimes called Uber Family), but:

  • It is only available in limited areas of Orlando.
  • It provides ONE forward-facing seat only (appropriate for children at least 2 years old AND at least 22 lbs).
  • It does not provide multiple car seats in a single vehicle.
  • You would need two car seats for your 2-year-old and 4-year-old; Uber Car Seat cannot meet that requirement.

This means Uber alone is not a reliable or legal option unless you bring your own seats.

What most families do:

  • Bring travel-friendly car seats (like folding boosters for the 4-year-old and lightweight travel convertible seats for the 2-year-old).
  • Use a private car service that provides multiple seats (several Orlando companies do this for airport & park transport).
  • Rent car seats from a baby gear rental service delivered to the hotel.
  • Rent a car for the trip — often easiest because you control the car seats and save time.

Best options for your situation (2 children needing seats):

  • Bring your own car seats — safest and most consistent option.
  • Book a car service (e.g., Tiffany Towncar, Orlando Transportation, etc.) that confirms two child seats in advance.
  • Rent a car if you expect frequent driving — often cheaper than many Uber trips plus seat rentals.

Recommendation:

If you plan to use Uber “mostly,” you will need to bring two appropriate car seats. Uber does not provide multiple seats and availability of Uber Car Seat is very limited. For convenience, safety, and compliance with Florida law, preparing your own seats (or arranging a service that provides them) is the best way to go.

If you need help choosing lightweight travel seats or understanding how easy they are to carry, feel free to ask!
