Spring Break?

Husband and I are coming March 5th-9th to celebrate my 40th. Does anyone know which week is the more heavy spring breakers?

We love a bar on the beach, but also don't wanna be near the rowdy 20 years olds while actually ON the beach... Recommendations on which beaches to hit on Siesta, Lido, etc?

Thank You!!

Visiting Sarasota in early March for your 40th birthday is a wonderful idea! Regarding spring break crowds, most college spring breakers tend to flock to Florida between mid-March and early April. Since your trip is March 5th–9th, you’ll be arriving before the peak spring break rush, which generally means fewer rowdy crowds on the beaches.

Regarding beach selection, Sarasota has several options that cater to different vibes, from lively beach bars to quieter, relaxing stretches of sand. If you want a beach with a lively atmosphere nearby but still a comfortable, mature setting on the sand, consider the following:

  • Siesta Key Beach: Famous for its powdery white sand and clear water. It’s beautiful, but the northern and southern ends are typically quieter. You can still enjoy nearby bars without being in the middle of younger crowds.
  • Lido Key Beach: Close to St. Armands Circle, where you’ll find plenty of restaurants and bars. The beach itself is usually more relaxed, with fewer college crowds, but you can easily walk to enjoy the scene at the bars.
  • Crescent Beach (southern end of Siesta Key): Offers a quieter experience, often favored by couples and families. You’ll find fewer rowdy spring breakers and can still access nearby beach bars with a short drive.

For your goal of combining a bar scene without a noisy beach experience, a good strategy is to spend the daytime on quieter beach sections and then head to nearby bars or St. Armands Circle in the evening. This way, you get the best of both worlds: peaceful sun and sand and lively nightlife when you’re ready.

In summary, your dates of March 5–9 are before the main spring break crowds, and beaches like Siesta Key (north or south ends), Lido Key, and Crescent Beach will offer a relaxing experience. You can still enjoy beachfront bars nearby without having to be in the middle of rowdy groups of 20-year-olds.
