Transportation with children to cruise terminal from Miami a
We are flying in without car seats to MIA. Is there a bus or available transport to the terminal that doesn’t require car seats. I know you don’t need them on public transportation
Traveling from Miami International Airport (MIA) to the cruise terminals with children but without car seats is definitely manageable, as Florida law does not require car seats on public transportation or certain commercial shuttles.
Options for transportation:
- Private Shuttle Services: Many shuttle companies operate between MIA and the Miami Cruise Port. These include Go Airport Shuttle, SuperShuttle, and various cruise line-affiliated shuttles. They typically do not require car seats, and drivers are accustomed to transporting families with young children. You can pre-book online for convenience.
- Taxi or Rideshare (Uber/Lyft): Taxis and rideshare vehicles can transport families without car seats. Most parents carry children on laps if under the age for booster seats, which is legal in Florida for ride-share and taxi services. Larger vehicles (SUVs or vans) are available if you have more luggage or multiple children.
- Public Bus: Miami-Dade Transit buses run from MIA to downtown Miami, where the cruise terminals are located. No car seats are required. However, this option may be less convenient with luggage and young children, as transfers and walking might be involved.
Tips:
- If convenience and minimal hassle are priorities, a private shuttle or Uber/Lyft is best for families with young children.
- Bring snacks, water, and any comfort items for the kids, especially if taking public transport or a shuttle with multiple stops.
- Check with your cruise line; some offer private transfers or preferred shuttle services for passengers flying into MIA.
Overall, while public transportation is an option, most families traveling to the cruise terminal with children prefer a private shuttle or rideshare service for comfort, luggage handling, and direct service, and neither requires car seats for children.
