Hotel stay prior to cruise

We’re traveling to Miami the day prior to leaving for a cruise in June. Any recommendations on an affordable place to stay?

If you're flying into Miami the day before your cruise, there are several affordable hotel options that balance convenience, comfort, and proximity to both Miami International Airport and the Port of Miami. Prices in June can vary depending on events and demand, but many mid-range hotels offer competitive rates, especially if you book early.

You’ll want to decide whether you prefer staying near the airport for convenience and price, or closer to downtown/Brickell for easier access to the port and more dining options. Below are some solid choices in both categories.

  • Hampton Inn & Suites Miami Airport South/Blue Lagoon – Reliable, clean, usually one of the better-value properties. Offers free airport shuttle and breakfast. About a 15–20 minute rideshare to the port.
  • Holiday Inn Miami International Airport – Often budget-friendly with basic but comfortable rooms. Good if you just need a place to sleep before embarkation.
  • Fairfield Inn & Suites Miami Airport South – A good affordable option with complimentary breakfast; quick airport access.

If you'd rather be closer to the cruise port (often easier for morning embarkation), these downtown-area hotels tend to be reasonably priced while still offering good access:

  • YVE Hotel Downtown Miami – Walkable to shops and restaurants at Bayside Marketplace; often one of the cheaper downtown options.
  • Holiday Inn Port of Miami–Downtown – Directly across from Bayside; very convenient for cruisers and usually mid-range in price.
  • Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Miami/Brickell – Sometimes priced a little higher than airport hotels, but still great value for the location and quality.

If you’re looking to stretch your budget further, consider checking for last-minute deals or refundable rates now and adjusting as you get closer. June is summer travel season, so booking early helps secure better prices.

All of these options offer easy access to either the airport or the port, making them dependable choices for a one-night pre-cruise stay.
