Shuttle service to CBX

I have not seen new posts on this subject for a couple of years. Is there some sort of shuttle from SAN to CBX? It seems that there is in the other direction. Any current information is appreciated.

Currently, there is no official shuttle service operating directly from San Diego International Airport (SAN) to the Cross Border Xpress (CBX) terminal in Tijuana. Most shuttle services and private transfers focus on transporting passengers from CBX to SAN rather than the other way around. Travelers looking to go from SAN to CBX generally rely on a combination of rideshare, taxi, or private shuttle services.

Here are the practical options for getting from SAN to CBX:

  • Rideshare or Taxi: Services like Uber, Lyft, or local taxis can take you directly from SAN to the CBX terminal. Travel time is approximately 30–40 minutes without heavy traffic. Ensure your driver is comfortable crossing the border if needed.
  • Private Shuttle Services: Some private companies offer pre-booked airport-to-CBX transfers. These may require advance reservations and are typically slightly more expensive than rideshare but provide direct service and luggage assistance.
  • Rental Car: If you already have a rental car at SAN, you can drive to CBX, park in the designated lot, and cross the pedestrian bridge to Tijuana. This option provides flexibility but requires navigating traffic and parking.

Additional Notes:

  • Always allow extra time for traffic near the border and CBX processing lines.
  • Check current CBX operating hours before planning your transfer, as they can change.
  • While there is a CBX shuttle from Tijuana to SAN, the reverse direction has limited options, so rideshare or private booking is currently the most reliable method.

In summary, while there is no official SAN-to-CBX shuttle, rideshare, taxi, or private transfer services are your best options for a smooth trip from the airport to the border crossing.
