Hotel recommendations please

Hi Everyone,

I am coming to San Francisco in May and am looking for hotel recommendations. I want to stay in a safe area and am looking for a quiet hotel ( or one with sound proofing ) with either a suite with 2 separate sleeping areas or intercommunicating rooms. I've heard that Fishermans Wharf is a good area but am open to suggestions and don't mind paying for something good. Many thanks.

San Francisco has several neighborhoods that are safe and convenient for visitors, and Fisherman’s Wharf is a popular choice due to its tourist attractions, waterfront views, and accessibility. However, it can be busy and slightly noisier than other areas. For a quiet stay, you might also consider Union Square or the Embarcadero area, which offer central locations, good restaurants, and easy access to public transportation.

Here are some hotel options that fit your criteria for safety, quiet, and suites or interconnecting rooms:

  • Argonaut Hotel (Fisherman’s Wharf) – A boutique hotel in a historic building, offering spacious suites and some interconnecting rooms. Waterfront views and close to attractions.
  • Hotel Zephyr (Fisherman’s Wharf) – Modern design, family-friendly, and some suite options. Rooms can be quiet with good soundproofing.
  • Hyatt Centric Fisherman’s Wharf – Offers suites and family-friendly interconnecting rooms. Good location and reliable service.
  • Kimpton Buchanan Hotel (Nob Hill / Union Square) – Quiet boutique hotel with suites; safe neighborhood and centrally located.
  • Embassy Suites by Hilton San Francisco Airport Waterfront – If proximity to the airport is convenient, offers two-room suites with separate sleeping areas and spacious layouts.

Additional tips:

  • Request a room on a higher floor and away from the street to minimize noise.
  • Book interconnecting rooms early, as availability can be limited.
  • Check if the hotel offers soundproofing or quiet room options when booking.
  • If you want a quieter experience than Fisherman’s Wharf but still near the water, consider the Embarcadero area near the Ferry Building.

Overall, your choice of Fisherman’s Wharf is excellent for sightseeing, but Union Square or Nob Hill may offer a slightly quieter experience with the same level of convenience.
