Monday trip plan

San Diego zoo entrance ticket $76 per person at entrance, $73 online, or $63 Costco online.

If u buy Costco ticket online before midnight, can I still use online ticket next day ?

I’m debating whether spending $150 US/ for 2 people to visit zoo or spend at somewhere else ( nice fine dining etc ).

We visited USS midway, La Jolla cove, Colorado, little Italy.

We plan to visit balboa park either Monday or Tuesday depends on whether we will go to SD zoo ?

Any events going on March 3 or 4th, any other suggestions for the remaining time ?

Thank you

If you purchase the Costco online tickets for the San Diego Zoo before midnight, you can typically use them the following day as long as you have the confirmation and QR code ready. Costco tickets are valid for the date you choose at checkout or may sometimes allow open-date usage within a short window, but you should double-check the specific terms on Costco’s site before purchasing.

Regarding the cost versus other experiences, $150 for two people at the zoo is reasonable if you enjoy animals and exhibits, but if you’re looking for more fine dining or cultural experiences, San Diego has plenty of alternatives that could be more memorable depending on your interests.

Other activities and ideas for March 3 or 4:

  • Balboa Park: Even if you skip the zoo, Balboa Park itself has numerous gardens, museums, and walking paths. You could spend a half or full day exploring its architecture, botanical gardens, and cultural museums.
  • Old Town San Diego: Offers a historic experience with shops, restaurants, and live music. Good for a more relaxed cultural visit.
  • Sunset Cliffs: A scenic spot for a walk or photography, especially at sunset.
  • Gaslamp Quarter: Excellent for dining, nightlife, and boutique shopping.
  • Harbor Cruise: Offers a different perspective of the city and is a relaxing activity.

If you choose fine dining over the zoo, some notable restaurants in San Diego include:

  • Born and Raised: Upscale steakhouse with rooftop views in Little Italy.
  • Mister A’s: Offers panoramic city views and contemporary American cuisine.
  • George’s at the Cove (La Jolla): Modern Californian fare with ocean views.
  • Ironside Fish & Oyster: Trendy seafood spot in Little Italy.

For events, check local calendars for March 3-4 as San Diego often has small concerts, local festivals, or museum exhibitions, which could be enjoyable alternatives or additions to your itinerary.
