With your current 14-day itinerary looping from Las Vegas through southern Utah and northern Arizona back to Las Vegas, adding an extra night can help reduce driving stress, allow for deeper exploration, or include a special activity that might otherwise be rushed. Here are some options to consider:

Option 1: Extra night in Moab

  • Moab is packed with natural wonders—Arches, Canyonlands, Dead Horse Point—and your current plan gives three full days. If you add an extra night, you can explore less-visited trails, enjoy sunrise or sunset photography without rushing, or do a guided activity such as a rafting trip on the Colorado River or a scenic helicopter flight over the canyons.
  • This also breaks up the longer drives before or after Moab and allows a slightly more relaxed pace.

Option 2: Extra night near Page/Lake Powell

  • An additional night in Page lets you fully enjoy Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, or even a boat tour on Lake Powell. Early morning or late afternoon light is spectacular for photography, and an extra day ensures you don’t feel rushed between sightseeing and driving.
  • Could also allow for a short side trip to nearby slot canyons like Waterholes Canyon or explore the Glen Canyon Dam area.

Option 3: Extra night in Capitol Reef/Torrey area

  • Capitol Reef and surrounding areas are beautiful but often overlooked. Extra time here allows for scenic drives along the scenic byway, exploring lesser-known trails like Hickman Bridge or Cassidy Arch, and relaxing at a local orchard if visiting in season.
  • Breaking up the drive to Moab the next day can make it less tiring and more scenic.

Option 4: Extra night near Grand Canyon South Rim

  • If you prefer to slow down before heading back to Las Vegas, an extra night near the South Rim allows you to catch a sunrise over the canyon, hike a short segment like the Bright Angel Trail, or visit viewpoints you might otherwise skip.
  • This makes the final leg to Las Vegas shorter and less rushed.

Overall, if your priority is reducing long drives and getting a relaxed experience with opportunities for photography or side activities, Moab or Page are the strongest candidates for the extra night. If you want a more scenic and relaxed pace, Capitol Reef or Grand Canyon South Rim work well. Consider which region excites you most or where you might want a bit more time to explore without feeling rushed.
