St. Patrick's Day in Denver

I'll be in Colorado for work on the 18th, so I decided to come in early for St. Patrick's Day weekend, staying at the Hampton Inn Downtown. I'll check out the parade the morning of the 15th, but does anyone have other suggestions for the rest of the weekend? Perhaps a good area to do a self guided bar crawl and see some live music? I'm fine with lots of walking or taking Uber since I won't have a car. I've been to Denver once before but it was several years ago so I don't remember much. Thanks in advance!

Denver is a lively city for St. Patrick’s Day weekend, especially in the downtown and LoDo (Lower Downtown) areas. Since you’ll be staying at the Hampton Inn Downtown, you’ll be within walking distance or a short Uber ride from many of the city’s bars, breweries, and live music venues.

After checking out the parade on the morning of the 15th, here are some ways to enjoy the rest of the weekend:

  • Self-Guided Bar Crawl: The LoDo and RiNo (River North) neighborhoods are perfect for walking bar crawls. You can plan a route visiting some of Denver’s most iconic bars and breweries. Many places will have live music or St. Patrick’s themed events.
  • Popular Bars and Pubs:
    • RiNo District: Great for craft breweries and modern bars. Some options include Ratio Beerworks, Epic Brewing Company, and Zeppelin Station.
    • LoDo: Historic area with classic Irish pubs like the Irish Snug and Oskar Blues. Also check out Union Lodge No.1 for craft cocktails.
    • 16th Street Mall: Busy pedestrian street with several bars and restaurants offering live music and happy hour specials.
  • Live Music Venues:
    • The Ogden Theatre – historic venue with a variety of concerts.
    • Bluebird Theater – smaller, intimate venue featuring local and national acts.
    • Larimer Lounge – cozy spot for live music in the heart of LoDo.

If you prefer a more casual St. Patrick’s experience, there are several local breweries that often host themed events, such as Denver Beer Co., Great Divide Brewing, and Wynkoop Brewing Company. Many of these places are within walking distance of each other, making it easy to hop from one to another.

Other tips for the weekend:

  • Consider booking a guided St. Patrick’s Day pub crawl if you want a social experience and to meet other visitors.
  • Use Uber or Lyft for longer distances, especially if you plan to enjoy drinks at multiple locations.
  • Check event listings in advance as many bars and venues require tickets or reservations for weekend events.

With downtown Denver as your base, you’ll have easy access to a variety of bars, breweries, and live music options to make the St. Patrick’s Day weekend lively and memorable.
