Pudong Shangri-la Hotel

Looking at staying at the Pudong Shanghai-la Hotel in Shanghi but it’s 40 minutes or so from the hotel. Hotel

transportation one way is £103.

What other means are there to get from and to the Hotel from Pudong Airport please?

Is there an Airport bus that drops off at this hotel ?

Any advice appreciated.

The Pudong Shangri-La Hotel in Shanghai is located in the Lujiazui area of Pudong, which is a central business district. While hotel transfer services may be convenient, there are several alternative ways to get to and from Pudong Airport that are generally more cost-effective.

Here are your options:

  • Airport Shuttle Bus: Shanghai has a network of airport buses that cover major hotels and districts. While some buses stop at large hotels directly, the Pudong Shangri-La may not have a dedicated airport shuttle stop. You can check the official airport shuttle routes, and if not direct, you may need to take a bus to a nearby metro station or landmark and then a short taxi ride.
  • Metro: The Shanghai Metro Line 2 connects Pudong Airport directly to Lujiazui station, which is very close to the Pudong Shangri-La. The ride takes about 1 hour and costs around 7-10 CNY. From Lujiazui metro station, the hotel is a short walk or 5-minute taxi ride.
  • Taxi or Ride-Hailing Apps: You can take a taxi or use Didi (China's equivalent of Uber). The ride takes about 40-50 minutes depending on traffic. The cost is generally 150-200 CNY (~£18-24), which is cheaper than the hotel-arranged transfer.
  • Private Car Services: Services like Blacklane or local private transfers can be booked in advance. Prices may be similar to hotel transport, but some offer more comfort and flexibility.
  • Combination Option: Take Metro Line 2 from the airport to Lujiazui, then walk or take a short taxi ride. This is usually the fastest and cheapest option for solo travelers or small groups with light luggage.

In summary, while the hotel shuttle is convenient, using the Metro Line 2 is a reliable and affordable option. Taxis or ride-hailing apps provide door-to-door service at a reasonable cost, especially if traveling with luggage or in a group. Airport buses are an alternative if you prefer ground transport and don’t mind transferring.
