Need help with what to pack please

Thinking that active wear during the day for walking tours and activities. is the way to go. At night are jeans (white included) with a nice top the norm for restaurants? Will definitely check the weather before going (end of March). Thanks for your help!!

New Orleans in late March is a great time to visit, with pleasant weather perfect for walking around the city. Here's a general guide to help you pack for your trip, balancing comfort and style:

Daytime Activities (Walking Tours and Sightseeing):

  • Active wear is an excellent choice for daytime activities. Think comfortable leggings, breathable tops, and sneakers or comfortable walking shoes. If you're planning on walking a lot (which you'll likely be doing), make sure your shoes are supportive.
  • Weather-wise, it can be mild but variable, so light layers are key. A breathable jacket or cardigan that can easily be removed or added is ideal. A lightweight rain jacket could also come in handy, as there's always a slight chance of rain in New Orleans.
  • If you plan on doing a lot of outdoor activities, bring a hat or sunglasses for sun protection, as well as sunscreen.

Evening Activities (Dinner, Jazz, or Nightlife):

  • For dinner at most restaurants, you can definitely get away with wearing jeans with a nice top. New Orleans has a relaxed vibe, so there’s no need to go super formal unless you're dining at a very upscale establishment.
  • White jeans are perfectly fine, especially for a dinner at a restaurant or a more casual spot. You can pair them with a smart blouse or a top with some flair (like a nice sweater or a blouse with interesting details like lace or silk).
  • Some restaurants may have a smart-casual dress code, especially in the French Quarter, but most places are comfortable with nice, clean jeans paired with a stylish top or button-up shirt.
  • If you're heading to more upscale places, such as the Commander's Palace or Galatoire's, a collared shirt or dressy blouse might be a good idea for men and women, but no need for a full suit or anything overly formal.

Additional Items:

  • Comfortable shoes are a must for daytime, but you’ll likely want to bring a pair of dressier shoes or sandals for dinners or evenings out.
  • Small crossbody bag or a backpack for your daytime excursions is a great option for carrying essentials like your phone, wallet, and sunscreen.
  • Evenings can be a bit cooler, so bring a light jacket or sweater, just in case it gets chilly after dark.

Overall, New Orleans is a very casual and comfortable city when it comes to dress code, but there are a few places where you might want to dress up a little more. You'll definitely be able to enjoy the vibrant food, music, and culture without worrying too much about packing for formality!

Have a fantastic trip to New Orleans! :)
