Public Swimming pool

I will be in Washington D.C. for few days at the beginning of November and would like to go for a swim in the morning. I was looking online but hard to find the prices etc. can someone recommend a place where I can go as non resident. Thanks in advance

Washington D.C. has several public swimming pools operated by the District of Columbia Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR). Most are open to non-residents, though you may need to pay a daily fee or purchase a day pass. Since you’ll be visiting in early November, indoor pools are the best option.

Here are some recommended public indoor pools in DC where non-residents can swim:

  • Wilson Aquatic Center: Located at 1150 23rd Street NW, offers lap swimming, recreational swim, and water exercise classes. Daily fees for non-residents are around $10–$15.
  • Takoma Aquatic Center: Located at 300 Van Buren Street NW, features lap lanes and open swim times. Non-resident daily fees are approximately $10.
  • Columbia Heights Community Center Pool: 1480 Girard Street NW, indoor pool with lap and recreational swim options. Daily fee for non-residents is about $10.
  • Palmer and Rosedale Indoor Pools: Smaller community pools that offer lap swim sessions and some open swim times. Fees vary but generally around $5–$10 for non-residents.

Tips for visiting:

  • Check the DPR website or call ahead to confirm hours, especially for early morning lap swim sessions, as hours may vary in November.
  • Bring a lock for lockers, as some pools require you to store belongings securely.
  • Swim caps may be required for lap swimming at certain facilities.
  • Arrive early if you want to secure a lane, as non-resident spots may be limited.

Overall, Wilson Aquatic Center and Takoma Aquatic Center are the most popular choices for visitors, with reliable schedules and good facilities for a morning swim.
