Hotel thoughts

Returning again to Palm Springs in late April early May. My last trip in Oct stayed at Talavera and enjoyed it. Their rates are higher than I am looking for as a solo traveler. Trying to stay in the same neighborhood. Any thoughts on Desert Hills hotel, Palm Mountain Resort, or other nearby properties. Thanks

If you’re returning to Palm Springs and want to stay in the same general neighborhood as Talavera but at a lower rate, there are several good options to consider. Late April to early May is a popular time, so rates may be higher than other parts of the year, but you can still find comfortable, budget-friendly alternatives.

Here’s a comparison of your mentioned properties and other nearby options:

  • Desert Hills Hotel: Centrally located in Palm Springs, offers clean, modest rooms, and has a pool area. Rates are typically lower than Talavera, making it a solid choice for solo travelers. It’s a quieter neighborhood with easy access to downtown.
  • Palm Mountain Resort: Known for its relaxed, boutique feel. Rooms are comfortable, the pool and spa area are pleasant, and the property is pedestrian-friendly. Rates are generally moderate and may vary depending on season and room type.
  • Other nearby options:
    • Best Western Plus Las Brisas Hotel: Mid-range rates, good location close to downtown Palm Springs, with clean rooms and a pool. Convenient for exploring restaurants and shops.
    • Caliente Tropics Resort: Budget-friendly, tropical theme, lively pool area, and centrally located. Rooms are simple but functional for a solo traveler.
    • Del Marcos Hotel: Historic boutique hotel, quieter and more charming, with a smaller footprint. Rates can be slightly higher than basic motels but still below Talavera.

Additional tips:

  • Book early for April/May as Palm Springs sees a lot of visitors during springtime.
  • Check if the hotel offers free parking or other amenities important for a solo traveler.
  • Consider whether you want a quieter stay or a property with a social pool atmosphere, as Palm Springs properties can vary significantly in ambiance.

Overall, for a solo traveler looking for comfort and budget in the same area as Talavera, Desert Hills Hotel and Palm Mountain Resort are both excellent choices, with Desert Hills being slightly more affordable and Palm Mountain offering a boutique feel with a relaxed pool setting. Other nearby boutique or mid-range hotels can also provide a similar neighborhood experience at competitive rates.
