Approx Taxi cost from PEK airport to Jinsong Metro, Chaoyang
I will be landing at PEK airport, Beijing (first time) around 8 pm and need to go to Jinsong Metro, Chaoyang. I will have a large suitcase, a carry on and possibly a backpack.
Based on what I read so far, it is best to hire an official taxi rather than try did or other ride sharing apps. Can some please help me any of the following questions?
1. Any idea what approx cost would be?
2. I will try to use Alipay but is Cash OK as alternative?
3. Are directions to taxi stand at beijing airport easy to follow?
4. I guess I should not attempt to cover part or all the journey by train(s) due to luggage specially on a weekday evening - right?
Thanks in advance for any advise
For your arrival at Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) around 8 pm, taking an official taxi to Jinsong Metro in Chaoyang District is generally the most convenient choice, especially with multiple pieces of luggage.
Here are some details and advice regarding your questions:
- Approximate cost: The distance from PEK to Jinsong Metro is roughly 25β30 km. A standard metered taxi should cost around 100β130 RMB, including the airport surcharge (typically 10β20 RMB). The fare may vary slightly depending on traffic, which can be moderate to heavy in the evening.
- Payment options: Most official taxis accept cash in RMB. Alipay or WeChat Pay is increasingly accepted, but itβs good to have cash as a backup in case the driver does not accept mobile payments.
- Taxi stands at PEK: Both Terminals 2 and 3 have well-signposted official taxi stands just outside the arrivals area. There are staff or signs in English guiding passengers to the queue for official taxis. Avoid unofficial offers from touts inside the terminal.
- Using trains with luggage: Attempting the Airport Express or subway lines with a large suitcase and backpack can be cumbersome, especially during evening rush hour. Given your luggage and time of day, a direct taxi is much more convenient and stress-free.
Additional tips:
- Make sure the taxi driver uses the meter; insist politely if needed.
- Have your hotel address written in Chinese to show the driver.
- Keep your luggage close and secure inside the taxi, especially for smaller items like backpacks.
Overall, a taxi ride is safe, straightforward, and likely the most comfortable option given your luggage and evening arrival.
