2-4 hour boat tour on Lake Powell in mid May 2025 ??

My wife and I (seniors) will be in Page on May 15 (PM) and May 16 (AM and PM). We would like to do two things:

1. A boat ride of 2-4 hour duration on a part of Lake Powell that is at least partly in

the a canyon area.

2. Upper Antelope Canyon ground tour.

I see there are options for reservation online for #2.

I cannot figure out #1 -- the boat tour. I called the boat tour line at lakepowell.com,

but their "Navaho Canyon" tour is not scheduled for either day, and the "Antelope Canyon" tour

may not be running in May at all.

Suggestions Please, Thanks,

Good timing — mid-May usually has plenty of Lake Powell activity, but some scheduled public boat tours (Navajo Canyon / Antelope Canyon) run seasonally and can be patchy on specific dates. If the official Navaho/Navajo Canyon tour you called about isn’t scheduled for your dates, you still have several reliable options: book a private 2–4 hour charter from Wahweap or Antelope Point, take a shorter scheduled Antelope Canyon boat trip from Antelope Point (if it’s running that day), or consider a scenic launch combined with a short hike/shore visit. Public Lake Powell tours and private charters are both common out of Wahweap and Antelope Point marinas.

Upper Antelope Canyon ground tours are a separate, Navajo Nation–operated guided experience and require advance reservations (they’re very popular). Book the Upper Antelope Canyon tour as soon as possible for May 16 (or whichever day you prefer). Expect the canyon tour itself to take about 1–1.75 hours including check-in and shuttle time.

  • Wahweap / Lake Powell Resorts boat tours — Lake Powell’s official boat tours include Navajo Canyon and Antelope Canyon boat trips out of Wahweap Marina; check their schedule but note the specific tour you want may not run every day in shoulder seasons. If the public cruise isn’t scheduled, ask them about private or charter departures.
  • Antelope Point Marina scheduled tours — Antelope Point runs multiple short Antelope-area boat departures per day (these are often ~1 hour or slightly longer); hours vary by season and they list multiple time slots. These are a good shorter option if you can’t find a 2–4 hour public cruise.
  • Private 2-hour charters / photography tours — Local operators (including independent companies and some Navajo tour operators) offer customizable 2–4 hour private boat tours that will take you into canyon side arms, photographic spots, Glen Canyon Dam views and Wahweap Bay. If you want a guaranteed canyon passage for 2–4 hours, a private charter is the most dependable choice. Examples: private Antelope/photography boat tours and local Lake Powell charter businesses.

Suggested plan for seniors and limited time (you’re in Page May 15 PM and May 16 AM & PM):

  • Day 1 — May 15 (PM): If you arrive in the afternoon, do a short 1- to 1.5-hour Antelope-area boat cruise out of Antelope Point (if available) or reserve an early private charter for the next morning. Use the evening to confirm Upper Antelope check-in time and rest.
  • Day 2 — May 16 (AM): Book the Upper Antelope Canyon guided ground tour in the morning (many operators run morning slots and that’s when the light and crowds are good). Morning timing is easier for heat and accessibility.
  • Day 2 — May 16 (PM): Do your reserved 2–4 hour private boat charter in the afternoon (if you can’t get a public Navajo Canyon cruise). A private 2-hour photo/charter will comfortably fit in the afternoon and let you see canyon walls and water perspectives at a relaxed pace.

Practical tips & considerations

  • Book Upper Antelope early: Slots fill fast; reserve now for May 16. Confirm meeting location and Navajo Nation entry fee policies with the operator.
  • If a public Navajo/Antelope boat tour isn’t scheduled, ask about private charters: Private charters will give you the 2–4 hour canyon experience you want and are usually flexible about pickup times and passenger needs. They’re especially useful for passengers who prefer a quieter, slower pace (good for seniors).
  • Accessibility / mobility: Ask the operator about boarding (some boats have steps and transfers). Tell them you’re seniors so they can plan seating and assistance. Many tour operators accommodate mobility needs if told in advance.
  • Weather & water levels: Canyon access and which side arms are reachable can depend on water levels and weather; reputable companies will update you and offer alternatives or refunds if conditions block canyon access.
  • Motion sickness / comfort: Bring light layers, sunscreen, a hat, water, and any motion-sickness meds if you’re prone to it. A 2–4 hour charter is mostly smooth but can be breezy on open stretches.
  • Local operators to contact/check: Wahweap / Lake Powell Resort boat tours (official), Antelope Point Marina tours, and small private charter companies (search “Lake Powell private boat charter” or “Lake Powell photo boat tour”). If a public tour isn’t on the calendar, reach out to private operators (they often run year-round by request).

If you’d like, I can:

  • Check availability for specific 2- to 4-hour private charters from Wahweap or Antelope Point on May 15–16 and list contact numbers / suggested operators, or
  • Find open Upper Antelope Canyon tour slots for May 16 with recommended operator names and approximate pickup times.
