Quick trip to Chicago with grands.

Question

We have two grands, ages 7 and 8 girls, for springbreak. They love museums. They are obsessed with mummies and history. We are going to take them to the Field Museum this Friday. We will be driving to Chicago (3 hour drive) on Thursday, spending the night and then going to the Museum on Friday. Will find a hotel in River North area, there seem to be plenty available for a reasonable price. Would love some suggestions on any other kid friendly activities and/or restaurants. We have been to the city quite a few times but never with the younger kids. I will search choosechicago and Chicago eater. Last minute trip so any tips appreciated.
