I’m flying from Xiamen via Beijing to Irkutsk soon. I’ve called the local money changer called GeoSwift here in Xiamen and they said that they only have RUB 5,000 (USD 58) in stock. As I have a 23-hour layover in Beijing I would like to buy some RUB in Beijing. I’ve been to Beijing before so there is no need for sightseeing anymore. Otherwise I could also explain the situation to the hotel in Irkutsk that I don’t want to lose too much on bad airport exchange rates and pay for the first night initially only upon check-in. Is there any place in Beijing which could have RUB in stock? A money changer would be better than a bank even when the rate is 1-2% worse as going into a bank is too much time-consuming.
