Bakery suggestions?

We're about to spend 2 days in Miami (close to the airport) and are looking for a place to buy yummy pastries, cakes and donuts.

We will have a car. Does anyone have suggestions,

Miami has a vibrant bakery scene with a mix of classic American pastries, Cuban-influenced sweets, and artisanal options. Since you have a car and are near the airport, you can easily access several highly recommended bakeries within a short drive.

Here are some top options to consider:

  • La Segunda Central Bakery: Located in the Little Havana area, this bakery is famous for its Cuban bread, pastelitos, and sweet treats. A must-visit for Cuban-style pastries.
  • Zak the Baker: A popular Wynwood bakery known for its artisan breads, croissants, and seasonal pastries. Great for brunch or grabbing a specialty coffee with your pastry.
  • Threefold Cafe & Bakery: Offers fresh donuts, scones, muffins, and a variety of cakes. Perfect for classic sweet treats with high-quality ingredients.
  • JACK’S BAKERY: Near Downtown Miami, famous for custom cakes, cupcakes, and decadent desserts. Ideal if you want something more elaborate for special occasions.
  • Azucar Ice Cream Company: While primarily known for ice cream, they also sell Cuban pastries and sweet baked goods in their Little Havana location.

Additional tips:

  • Check operating hours before visiting; some bakeries open early but close by mid-afternoon.
  • If you’re interested in Cuban-style breakfast pastries, visiting Little Havana is convenient and gives a cultural experience alongside the pastries.
  • For donuts, Threefold and local artisanal coffee shops often rotate specialty flavors that are unique to Miami.

With a car, you can easily make stops at 2-3 of these bakeries in one morning, sampling a range of pastries from traditional Cuban to contemporary American styles. This way, you’ll get a taste of Miami’s diverse bakery offerings even on a short stay.
