Evergreen lodge or Rush creek?

thank you, Alef
Hi Alef,
Visiting Yosemite in mid-July is a fantastic time to experience the park. Both Evergreen Lodge and Rush Creek Lodge are excellent choices, but they offer different experiences depending on what you are looking for in your stay.
Evergreen Lodge:
- Located near the western entrance of Yosemite, about 30 minutes from the Big Oak Flat entrance into Yosemite Valley.
- Has a more classic, rustic lodge feel with cabins nestled in the forest, giving a cozy and secluded vibe.
- Offers limited on-site dining options but is known for a charming, historic atmosphere.
- Great for those who enjoy a quieter, more forest-immersed experience and don’t mind driving into the valley each day for sightseeing.
Rush Creek Lodge:
- Located near Highway 120, about 5 miles outside the Big Oak Flat entrance into the park.
- Offers modern amenities with a resort-like feel, including multiple dining options, a pool, and a more social atmosphere.
- Spacious and comfortable with easy access to Yosemite Valley and Tuolumne Meadows.
- Better for convenience and amenities if you prefer a more resort-style stay and don’t mind being a bit busier.
Other considerations for your July trip:
- July is peak season, so expect crowds and busy roads; having reservations inside or very near the park is beneficial.
- Your senior multi-park US pass will help with entrance fees at Yosemite, but some extra parking or shuttle fees may still apply.
- Both lodges require driving to the main Yosemite attractions, though Rush Creek is slightly closer to Yosemite Valley.
- For hiking, photography, and exploring waterfalls, plan early mornings to avoid crowds, especially for popular trails like Mist Trail or Yosemite Falls.
Recommendation: If you prioritize a rustic, forest-immersed experience, go with Evergreen Lodge. If you prefer modern amenities, social spaces, and slightly easier access to Yosemite Valley, Rush Creek Lodge is the better choice. Either way, both lodges put you in a good position to explore the park fully during your four-day stay.
Safe travels and enjoy the majestic beauty of Yosemite!
