On the contrary, the trip from Beijing to datong is quite plain. The motorway quality is good, but the scenery along is just some typical north China mountains with few forestation.I believe those bravo drivers participated in the firstever Peking to Paris roadtrip,must have experienced the same scenery, more than 100 years ago.Our ride machine is much better, though. A seven seats MPV is capable enough for us, three adults and one child to enjoy a very comfort roadtrip, for sure.

We departed to Datong, from Badaling the Great Wall parking lot at about three o'clock PM, so before seven o'clock evening we were there at the heart of the ancient city of Datong, which is embraced by very tidy ancient city wall and numerous courtyard house and all the spectacular architectural legacies. The best thing is,in the evening, all these courtyard houses, city walls, bell towers and architectural legacies were all lighted up by designed illumination. That make the scenery more like those only occurred in one's dream, but it's true, it's stunning, it's extraordinarily beautiful.

So Mr L and the family's hotel was just located in the heart of the ancient city. Sure they had a wonderful evening and night there.
