Hong Kong and Macau SIM Card

Hello everyone ! I'm going to China this summer, and I was looking for a SIM Card option for both Hong Kong and Macao, as I will spend 2 days in both SAR. I'll need a SIM Card with enough data for both cities and for 4 days. However, it seems difficult to find one, I stumbled upon the CSL mobile option that offers prepaid SIM Card for tourists in Hong Kong and Macau, but there's no information whatsoever about where to buy it, there's no option to buy it online. Here's the link of the offer just in case : https://www.hkcsl.com/en/new-hk-tourist-prepaid-sim/

If someone can help me find a great offer for a Hong Kong and Macau prepaid SIM Card, I would be grateful. Especially since I will arrive from Shenzhen, at the Hong Kong Kowloon West Station, and I don't know if there are SIM shops there (even though it's very likely there are). Thanks by advance !

Finding a SIM card that works seamlessly in both Hong Kong and Macau for a short stay can be a little tricky, but there are several practical solutions. Since you’ll be arriving from Shenzhen at Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Station, you’ll have convenient access to multiple telecom counters and convenience stores that sell prepaid SIM cards suitable for your trip.

The good news is that several Hong Kong telecom providers, such as CSL, China Mobile Hong Kong, and 3HK, offer tourist SIM cards that include roaming data usable in both Hong Kong and Macau. These cards are easy to purchase once you arrive and do not require online pre-orders.

Here are the most reliable options for your needs:

  • CSL Hong Kong Tourist SIM Card – The one you mentioned is a good choice. CSL offers a tourist SIM that includes data for both Hong Kong and Macau. You can buy it directly upon arrival at Hong Kong West Kowloon Station, at 7-Eleven, Circle K, or CSL/1O1O stores. Prices usually start from HKD 88 for 5GB to 10GB data, valid for 5–8 days. The card automatically connects in Macau through roaming without extra setup.
  • China Mobile Hong Kong (CMHK) Greater Bay Area SIM – This SIM is designed specifically for travelers visiting the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macau region. It provides data coverage in all three areas without extra roaming fees. You can find it in CMHK stores or convenience shops in major stations like West Kowloon and Hung Hom. Plans typically offer 5GB–10GB for 5–7 days at around HKD 88–120.
  • 3HK Prepaid SIM “Data Pack for HK & Macau” – 3HK offers tourist and local SIMs with add-on plans that cover Macau. Their “Data Pack for HK & Macau” allows easy activation via code after inserting the SIM. These are sold at Hong Kong airport, MTR stations, or convenience stores near your hotel. This option is flexible if you want to extend your stay or add more data.

At Hong Kong West Kowloon Station, you’ll find:

  • 7-Eleven and Circle K convenience stores that sell prepaid SIMs from all major operators.
  • CSL and China Mobile counters offering direct tourist SIM setup with English assistance.
  • Information counters that can direct you to telecom booths if you arrive in the evening.

If you prefer to prepare in advance, you can also order Hong Kong–Macau SIMs online via travel platforms like Klook or KKday, which allow pickup at the West Kowloon Station or your hotel. These are legitimate and activated instantly when inserted into your phone.

For your 4-day trip, any of these Hong Kong SIM cards with regional coverage will provide sufficient data for messaging, navigation, and social media. A 5GB plan is typically more than enough for moderate use over several days.

In summary:

  • Buy the SIM at West Kowloon Station (7-Eleven, Circle K, CSL, or China Mobile).
  • Choose a plan from CSL, CMHK, or 3HK that includes Macau roaming.
  • Expect to pay around HKD 80–120 for 4–7 days of data coverage.
  • No need to prebook online — walk-in purchase is quick and reliable.

This approach ensures that you’ll have full connectivity in both Hong Kong and Macau without hassle, and you’ll be ready to explore both regions immediately after arrival.
