240 Hour Visa
Have booked my leaving flight with China Eastern (Beijing to Naha on Okinawa) and received payment notification and ticket number which I have printed off.
Will this be sufficient for Authorities when we enter the country ? I obviously have the booking information but no physical ticket.
Derek
Hello Derek,
For entry into China under the 240-hour (10-day) visa-free transit policy, authorities require proof of onward travel from China to a third country or region within the allowed transit period. Here’s how this works in your situation:
1. Proof of onward flight:
- The most important requirement is that you have a confirmed onward flight ticket from China (Beijing) to your next destination (Naha, Okinawa, Japan).
- Printouts showing your e-ticket number and payment confirmation are generally considered sufficient. You do not need a physical paper ticket issued by the airline; a printed e-ticket with flight number, date, and passenger name is acceptable.
- Make sure the printout clearly shows:
- Your full name as on passport
- Flight number and departure date
- Destination (Naha, Okinawa)
- Confirmation of ticket issuance or payment
2. Other entry requirements:
- Passport valid for at least six months beyond your planned departure from China.
- Completed arrival/departure card (provided on plane or at airport).
- Compliance with COVID-19 or other health regulations in effect at the time of travel.
3. Additional tips:
- Carry both a digital copy of your e-ticket on your phone and the printed version.
- If asked at immigration, calmly show your printed e-ticket and explain that it is an electronic booking with confirmed payment.
- Ensure your stay in China does not exceed 240 hours from your time of entry.
In summary, your printed booking with the payment confirmation and e-ticket number should be sufficient for authorities to allow entry under the 240-hour visa-free transit policy. There is no need for a physical ticket.
