Hong Kong Disneyland

Hello.

I'm in Shenzhen with my fiancée and I wanted to go to Disneyland but I read on the internet that there is no longer a big parade on the main avenue? In addition, another 5 attractions are closed, such as the Orbitron and the Tarzan tree? Can anyone confirm this? Why is there no longer a big parade? In that case, it's probably not worth going to Disneyland and it's better to go to Happy Valley in Shenzhen? Thank you very much for your answers.

Hong Kong Disneyland has gone through several changes in recent years, including updates to shows, attractions, and parades. It is true that the traditional daily parade along Main Street, U.S.A., has been suspended or altered in favor of shorter, seasonal, or character-focused performances. The park has focused more on daytime stage shows, castle projections, and nighttime spectaculars rather than the long-form parade.

Regarding closed attractions, theme parks routinely close rides for refurbishment, maintenance, or updates. Some popular attractions such as Orbitron and Tarzan’s Treehouse have been closed temporarily in the past, but closures may vary depending on the season or park maintenance schedules. It’s best to check the official Hong Kong Disneyland website or app for the latest operational status of rides before visiting.

Considerations for deciding whether to visit:

  • If you enjoy Disney-themed experiences, character interactions, and immersive environments, Hong Kong Disneyland still offers unique attractions not found elsewhere in China.
  • The park tends to be smaller and less crowded than Disneyland resorts in other countries, which may be a benefit for a shorter visit.
  • If your priority is thrill rides and more active amusement park experiences, Happy Valley in Shenzhen may offer more roller coasters and rides, though it lacks the Disney branding and themed storytelling.

Other points to consider:

  • Hong Kong Disneyland can be reached easily from Shenzhen via MTR and shuttle buses, making it feasible for a half-day or full-day trip.
  • For a first-time Disney visitor or fans of Disney characters, the park still provides memorable experiences even without the traditional parade.
  • For visitors focused on adrenaline rides, Happy Valley might be a better choice, but it does not offer the Disney-themed shows and parades.

In conclusion, whether it is “worth” going depends on what you value: Disney magic and themed experiences vs. thrill rides. Checking the latest ride closures and show schedules will help you make an informed decision.
