Your Alaska itinerary for June 2025 looks well-planned and action-packed! You’ve balanced scenic drives, guided adventures, and wildlife viewing nicely. Here’s a detailed look at your schedule with some observations and tips to maximize your experience:

Thursday - Arrival in Anchorage

Arriving late and staying near the airport is ideal. Picking up the rental car at night is straightforward, just confirm your reservation for late pickup. Overnight at Embassy Suites is convenient and comfortable for a good rest.

Friday - Anchorage to Healy / Denali NP

  • Stopping at Iditarod HQ and scenic viewpoints is perfect for breaking up the drive (~4-5 hours).
  • Driving into Denali NP to MM 15 is doable if you leave early; plan for wildlife stops and photo breaks.
  • Buying bear spray, snacks, and drinks in Anchorage is smart; Healy has limited options.

Overnight at McKinley Creekside Cabins provides easy access to Denali and saves driving time.

Saturday - Denali NP Shuttle & Sled Dog Demo

  • East Fork Transit Shuttle at 8:30 am is a good choice; early departure improves chances of wildlife sightings.
  • The sled dog demo at the Visitor Center is both fun and educational.
  • Driving further into Denali NP is flexible; prioritize wildlife over distance if tired or if weather isn’t ideal.

Overnight again at McKinley Creekside Cabins keeps the day manageable.

Sunday - Healy to Talkeetna and Glacier View

  • The 11 am Talkeetna Air Taxi Denali flightseeing with glacier landing is a highlight. Plan light travel before the tour.
  • Scenic stops on the drive to Glacier View are flexible; take advantage of viewpoints if daylight and weather are good.

Overnight at Sheep Mountain Lodge is well-located for Monday activities.

Monday - Glacier Trek & Zip Adventure

  • MICA Guides Glacier Trek in the morning allows you to see the ice formations closely; wear warm layers.
  • Zip Adventure at 5 pm provides a fun adrenaline activity. Ensure you have snacks and hydration between activities.

Overnight again at Sheep Mountain Lodge.

Tuesday - Drive to Seward

  • Leaving Glacier View mid-morning allows time for scenic stops and visiting Begich, Boggs Visitor Center.
  • The drive is long (~5-6 hours including stops), so pace yourself and consider quick detours for photography.

Overnight at a Seward AirBnB is perfect for the next day’s Kenai Fjords tour.

Wednesday - Kenai Fjords Tour

  • Major Marine 7.5 hr tour is a full day; pack snacks, water, and layers for wind and spray.
  • Return to your AirBnB for rest in the evening.

Thursday - Sled Dog Tour & Exit Glacier Hike

  • Ididraride Sled Dog Tour is usually morning-friendly; it’s a great family activity.
  • Exit Glacier overlook trail hike is short and scenic; suitable for all ages and gives a final nature experience in Seward.

Friday - Wildlife and Heritage Centers / Departure

  • Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is convenient en route to Anchorage Airport; plan 1-2 hours for animal viewing.
  • Alaska Native Heritage Center is a great cultural stop if time allows before heading to the airport.

Overall Thoughts:

  • The itinerary is ambitious but realistic; you have allowed for flexibility and downtime.
  • Consider packing snacks, water, and layers each day, as Alaska weather can be unpredictable.
  • Driving times are reasonable; try to avoid overpacking activities on single days to reduce fatigue.
  • Wildlife viewing in Denali and scenic stops are best in early morning or late afternoon; your plan aligns well with this.

This itinerary balances adventure, sightseeing, and relaxation. Your group should have a fantastic Alaskan experience while keeping the schedule manageable for your 14-year-old son and yourselves.
