Brunch

Was recommended Morning Glory for brunch but I am now reading mixed reviews. Is it worth going? And if not are there any better places ?

Morning Glory in San Diego has a loyal following and is known for its classic brunch fare, colorful presentation, and friendly atmosphere. Many visitors enjoy their breakfast burritos, pancakes, and specialty coffee drinks. However, as with any popular spot, experiences can vary. Some recent reviews mention longer wait times, inconsistency in portion sizes, or occasional service delays, which could explain the mixed feedback you've seen.

If you are willing to wait and enjoy a bustling, casual breakfast spot, Morning Glory is generally considered worth a visit, especially if you’re in the Mission Hills area. That said, if you prefer a smoother, more consistently high-rated brunch experience, San Diego has several other excellent options:

  • The Cottage (La Jolla) – A San Diego classic known for fresh ingredients, large portions, and a varied menu including omelets, eggs Benedict, and French toast. Popular, so expect a short wait.
  • Great Maple (Hillcrest) – Stylish spot with modern twists on brunch classics, such as maple bacon doughnuts and truffle fries alongside traditional egg dishes.
  • Breakfast Republic (Multiple locations) – Trendy and vibrant with a wide menu from pancakes to breakfast sandwiches, offering a fun, energetic atmosphere.
  • Richard Walker’s Pancake House (Downtown / Mission Valley) – Known for hearty breakfast options and legendary pancakes, open early and popular with families and visitors alike.

Each of these alternatives has strong reviews for both food and service, and they offer different vibes depending on whether you want casual, trendy, or more traditional settings. If your schedule is flexible, visiting Morning Glory could be fun, but for a guaranteed smooth experience, one of the other options may suit you better.
