Parisian Macao TO Hong Kong travel suggestions

Need suggestions to travel to HK (not the airport) during day time from Parisian Macao.

To Note:

1) Foreign Tourists

2) Traveling with luggage (3-4 checkin size) and kids

Seems there is a bus that departs from Parisian Macao directly to HK. If yes, how do the modalities work?

-Are they convenient to travel with luggage?

-what about border controls?

- when and where

- do the busses wait while we go thru immigration or do we need to change buses at border controls.

- what hppns to luggage if the bus needs to be changed. gets transferred by staff or we haul bags ourselves to the new bus?

Or Ferry is the better option? Again, same questions for Ferry.

Traveling from The Parisian Macao to Hong Kong city (not the airport) during the day can be done either by direct bus or by ferry. Both options are feasible for foreign tourists traveling with kids and luggage, but there are differences in convenience, time, and handling of luggage.

Option 1: Direct Bus from Parisian Macao to Hong Kong

Yes, there are direct cross-border buses (also called “Hong Kong-Macau Shuttle Buses”) that depart from The Parisian Macao. These buses are designed for tourists and accommodate luggage.

  • Luggage: Large check-in size luggage is usually stored in the bus’s undercarriage compartment. Hand luggage can stay with you onboard.
  • Border controls: You will go through Macau exit immigration first, then Hong Kong entry immigration. The bus typically stops for border checks.
  • Procedure: In most cases, you remain on the same bus during immigration checks. Staff may collect your passport and guide you through the process. Occasionally, especially for large buses, you may need to change buses after Hong Kong immigration, in which case you retrieve your luggage and staff helps transfer it to the new bus.
  • Departure points: Buses depart from the bus terminal at The Parisian Macao or nearby Cotai bus terminals. Advance booking is recommended, especially during peak tourist periods.
  • Travel time: Typically 1.5–2.5 hours depending on traffic and border processing times.

Option 2: Ferry from Macau to Hong Kong

Ferries depart from the Macau Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal or Taipa Ferry Terminal near Cotai, which is accessible from The Parisian Macao via a short taxi or shuttle ride.

  • Luggage: Checked luggage is stored in the ferry’s designated areas. Hand luggage can stay with you.
  • Border controls: You must clear Macau exit and Hong Kong entry immigration at the ferry terminal. You carry your own luggage through immigration checkpoints.
  • Convenience: Ferries may be less convenient with very young children or multiple large suitcases, as you need to walk through the terminal and immigration, and manage your luggage yourself.
  • Travel time: Approximately 55–70 minutes of ferry ride, plus transfer and immigration time (usually 30–60 minutes in total depending on queue lengths).
  • Schedules: Frequent departures throughout the day, but check in advance for availability and ticketing. Advance booking is recommended, especially during weekends or holidays.

Recommendations:

  • If traveling with kids and multiple large suitcases, the direct bus is generally easier, as you are mostly seated and luggage is handled for you.
  • Ferry offers a scenic route and slightly faster travel time, but requires more handling of luggage and walking through terminals.
  • Book tickets in advance for either option, and allow buffer time for border processing to avoid stress.

In summary, both bus and ferry are viable. The bus is more convenient with heavy luggage and children, as you stay onboard through immigration in most cases. The ferry is slightly faster on the water but requires more active luggage handling through immigration.
