Hotel recommendations in Cotai?
As a solo traveler visiting during the weekday which hotel/s have the most action going on? I’ve been once before and was mainly checking out Venetian during the weekend and it was packed….but I’ve stayed in Venetian mutiple times in Vegas so definitely want to try something more unique to Macau.
I’m more interested in exploring, food, drinks, entertainment than gambling as I can go do that in Vegas and Vegas casinos seemed more fun and much cheaper.
Cotai in Macau is known for its large integrated resorts, many of which offer a variety of entertainment, dining, and nightlife beyond gambling. For a solo traveler interested in food, drinks, and unique experiences, here are some hotel options and tips:
Hotels with the most “action” and entertainment in Cotai:
- City of Dreams Macau – This resort offers several unique attractions including The House of Dancing Water show, a wide range of bars and restaurants, and vibrant nightlife. It’s ideal for someone wanting entertainment and food experiences without focusing solely on gambling.
- MGM Cotai – Known for its contemporary design, art installations, and rooftop lounges. MGM Cotai has a mix of live performances, bars, and high-end dining options, making it lively even on weekdays.
- Studio City – This hotel has a more playful, cinematic theme, with entertainment options like a Ferris wheel, themed shows, and multiple casual dining outlets. Studio City is fun for exploring and casual socializing.
- Galaxy Macau – While larger and more resort-like, Galaxy offers a variety of pools, nightlife, and restaurants with a mix of indoor and outdoor entertainment areas. Good for walking around and exploring diverse options in one location.
Tips for a solo traveler looking for weekday energy:
- Weekdays are generally quieter than weekends, so choose hotels with ongoing shows or entertainment that operate every day.
- Focus on resorts with diverse dining and bars rather than relying solely on casino activity to find “action.”
- Look for hotels that host art installations, light shows, or live music, as these can provide unique experiences that differ from your Vegas visits.
- Consider exploring the Cotai Strip on foot, visiting multiple resorts for different experiences in one afternoon or evening.
Overall, for a solo traveler seeking Macau-specific experiences with food, drinks, and entertainment, City of Dreams and Studio City are likely the most engaging, while MGM Cotai and Galaxy offer upscale options with lively but slightly more relaxed atmospheres. Mixing a couple of these resorts in your stay will give you the full Cotai experience beyond just gambling.
