Trail ridge road opening?
I understand there was a recent storm that delayed things, any updates on ETA for opening of the trail ridge road? We were planning on driving through next Weds on our way to vail but thinking we might need to adjust our plans.
Good question. Yes — Trail Ridge Road is open as of May 30, 2025, according to the National Park Service.
That said, there are a few important caveats and things to watch for:
- Because snow is still melting, icy patches may persist on parts of the road, especially at high elevations.
- Timed-entry reservations are required for accessing the road from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- The Alpine Visitor Center and the Trail Ridge Store are currently closed.
- Conditions at altitude can change quickly. Be prepared for freezing temps, sudden storms, or strong winds.
- For the very latest status, you should call the recorded road-status line at (970) 586-1222 before heading out.
Bottom line: Yes, the road should be open during your trip next Wednesday, but make sure you have the right timed-entry reservation, keep an eye on the weather, and be prepared for alpine driving conditions.
