Taxi from Huanglongjiuzhai station to Zhongchagou
Hello:
I'd like to hire a car to make a 2-3 hour stop in Zhongchagou (中查沟) from the high speed railway station, then onto jiuzhaigou. Those who have made the drop in Zhongcha, was it a worthwhile stop?
Would it be easy to hire Didi or should I book a car ahead? Does anyone have a driver they can recommend, or know approximately how much this will cost?
Thank you!
Stopping at Zhongchagou (中查沟) en route from Huanglong/ Jiuzhaigou high-speed railway station to Jiuzhaigou can be a worthwhile detour if you are interested in seeing a more local, less touristy area with traditional Tibetan villages and scenic landscapes. It provides a cultural and photographic opportunity that complements the natural beauty of Jiuzhaigou.
Regarding transport:
- Hiring a car via Didi (the Chinese ride-hailing app) is possible, but in remote areas like Huanglong or near Jiuzhaigou, availability may be limited, especially for multi-hour or multi-stop trips.
- Booking a private car or driver in advance is generally recommended. This ensures you have a vehicle ready, especially if you plan a 2-3 hour stop at Zhongchagou. Many hotels in Jiuzhaigou or nearby towns can help arrange a trusted driver.
- Recommended approach: contact a local travel agent or hotel concierge to book a car for the entire journey from Huanglong station to Jiuzhaigou with a Zhongchagou stop. This can often include a driver who speaks basic English.
Estimated costs:
- Private car from Huanglongjiuzhai station to Jiuzhaigou with a Zhongchagou stop: roughly 500–800 RMB depending on car type, season, and negotiation. SUVs or larger vehicles may cost more.
- Didi option (if available): likely slightly cheaper, but may not guarantee waiting during your Zhongchagou stop, and surge pricing may apply.
- Some travelers choose to share a car with other tourists to reduce cost, which can be arranged through local travel services or online travel forums.
Summary tips:
- Book a car in advance rather than relying on Didi at the station.
- Confirm with the driver about the stop duration at Zhongchagou to avoid miscommunication.
- Bring cash (RMB) as remote areas may not accept mobile payments or cards reliably.
In conclusion, a stop at Zhongchagou is feasible and can enrich your trip. Advance booking of a private car is the safest option, with estimated costs around 500–800 RMB, depending on vehicle type and season.
