Free Shuttle
Hi,
We will be arriving in Seward by train and me and my 3 children(10,13 &15) will be with our luggage. I've heard there is a free shuttle to the cruise port. Could you tell me where you go to get the free shuttle please?
Thanks
Kat
When you arrive in Seward by train, there is indeed a complimentary shuttle service that takes passengers from the train depot to the cruise port. This service is primarily designed for cruise passengers to make their transfer convenient and straightforward.
Here’s how to use it and what to expect:
- Shuttle pick-up location: The free shuttle typically picks up passengers directly outside the Seward train station or Amtrak/Alaska Railroad stop. Look for signage indicating “Cruise Shuttle” or “Cruise Transfer.” If you are unsure, ask an Alaska Railroad staff member upon arrival—they can direct you to the shuttle location.
- Timing: The shuttle is coordinated with train arrivals and cruise embarkation times. It’s best to confirm your train arrival time with the cruise line to ensure you catch the shuttle promptly.
- Luggage: The shuttle is equipped to handle standard luggage for cruise passengers, which is convenient when traveling with children and bags.
- Alternative options: If you miss the free shuttle or need flexibility, local taxis and rideshare services are available in Seward, but the free shuttle is generally the easiest and most cost-effective choice.
Additional tips:
- Have your cruise documentation ready, as the shuttle may require proof of cruise booking.
- Arrive at the train station a few minutes early to locate the shuttle pickup area, especially if traveling with three children and luggage.
- Some cruise lines also offer luggage transfer services, so check if your bags can be sent directly to your cabin, minimizing what you carry onto the shuttle.
In summary, head to the designated pickup area outside the Seward train station, look for cruise shuttle signage, and confirm with staff if needed. It’s designed to make the transfer to the cruise port smooth and stress-free for families traveling with luggage.
