Weather in late October

Looking to stay for only 1 night in late October (24th)

In mammoth lakes area after travelling through the Togo pass road. Hopefully it’s still open then ha ha.

Wondering where is a good stay and would any have pools open still or they be heated etc

Visiting Mammoth Lakes in late October means cooler temperatures and the possibility of early snow, especially if you are coming via Tioga Pass. Tioga Pass itself typically closes around mid-October due to snow, so check the current road status before traveling.

The weather in late October is generally chilly, with daytime highs in the 40s–50s °F (5–15 °C) and nighttime lows often dropping below freezing. Snow is possible at higher elevations, so layers and warm clothing are essential.

For a one-night stay, you have several options in Mammoth Lakes depending on your preference for convenience, comfort, or amenities:

  • The Westin Monache Resort: Centrally located, well-appointed rooms and suites, heated indoor pool and hot tubs. The pool is typically open year-round due to heating.
  • Juniper Springs Resort: Offers condo-style lodging with kitchenettes, some units have access to indoor heated pools or hot tubs. Good for flexibility and staying warm indoors.
  • Mammoth Mountain Inn: Ski-in/ski-out access, comfortable rooms, and heated pools/hot tubs. Late October is before the main ski season, but pools and spas are usually open.

Other considerations:

  • Many hotels close outdoor pools in late October, so if swimming is a priority, confirm that pools are heated and open.
  • If you want a quieter stay, look for lodges slightly away from the main village; for convenience to restaurants and shops, staying near Main Street is best.
  • Book in advance as autumn is less crowded but options may be limited due to early seasonal closures.

Overall, expect crisp fall air, the potential for early snow, and cozy accommodations. Heated pools and hot tubs are available at most larger resorts, so you can enjoy a warm soak even if the weather is chilly.
