First Baseball Game / Hotel

I’m flying into SD with my family for their first US trip at the end of the month and looking to buy tickets for the Padres V NY Mets. Are resellers such as Vivid seats legit and ok to buy from and are there any seats/areas to avoid?

Also not yet planned our final 3-4 days after our road trip in terms of where we are going to stay. We are staying in the downtown / Bay Area when we first arrive and I’m looking to book Coronado Island, is it easy to get into the city without a car and is there much to do there pls?

Buying Padres tickets through reputable resellers like Vivid Seats is generally safe. They are widely used, and you can usually trust that the tickets are legitimate, but always double-check the seller rating and reviews on the platform. Ticket prices on resellers can be higher than face value, especially for popular games like Padres vs. Mets.

When selecting seats, consider the following:

  • Petco Park has some areas with obstructed views; check the seat map carefully before purchasing.
  • If you want the full experience, try to get seats behind home plate or along the baselines, which give a good view of the field and the players.
  • Upper-level outfield seats are cheaper and can be fun, but be aware that the perspective is farther from the action.
  • Consider weather—San Diego evenings are usually mild, but upper-level seats can be breezy.

Regarding Coronado Island, it is very visitor-friendly and has a lot to offer. The area is walkable and has shops, restaurants, beaches, and the historic Hotel del Coronado.

  • Getting into downtown San Diego without a car is straightforward. The Coronado Ferry runs from the Ferry Landing in Coronado to downtown San Diego near the USS Midway and Seaport Village. It’s a short walk to most attractions from there.
  • Public buses and rideshare options (Uber/Lyft) are also available between Coronado and San Diego if you prefer flexibility.
  • Coronado beaches are beautiful and family-friendly, perfect for a few days of relaxing and exploring.
  • Dining options range from casual seafood to upscale dining, and there are bike rentals for exploring the island.

Overall, Coronado Island makes a great base for your final days in San Diego. You can enjoy the beach, historic sights, and still have easy access to downtown for shopping, museums, and your Padres game.
