Where to buy 3C power banks after arrival at Beijing

With the recent power bank regulation, we are trying to figure out where we can buy the 3C certified power banks after arriving at Beijing Capital Airport. Does anyone know of place at the airport or in close vicinity where we can buy? Dont recall there being any stores after we exit from customs area.

In Beijing, due to the new regulations on power banks, only 3C-certified power banks are allowed for sale and for carrying on flights. If you arrive at Beijing Capital Airport, your options to buy 3C-certified power banks immediately are somewhat limited inside the secure area.

1) At Beijing Capital Airport:

  • Most airport convenience stores and electronics shops in the arrivals hall may not stock 3C-certified power banks, as these are often restricted to authorized electronics retailers.
  • Some duty-free shops or larger airport electronics kiosks may carry limited 3C-certified power banks, but availability can be inconsistent.

2) Outside the airport – nearest options:

  • Once you exit the customs area, you can take a taxi or airport shuttle to the nearest major shopping area or electronics store. Popular options include:
  • Wangfujing or Xidan areas: Both have large electronics stores like Suning or Gome, where you can find 3C-certified power banks.
  • Beijing Capital Airport nearby malls: The Sky Plaza near Terminal 3 has some electronics stores that may carry certified power banks.
  • JD.com or Tmall pick-up points: If you have a Chinese phone number, you can order a 3C-certified power bank online and pick it up from a convenience store near the airport within a few hours.

3) Tips:

  • Make sure the power bank packaging shows the 3C certification logo; otherwise, you may not be allowed to take it on domestic flights.
  • If you plan to use the power bank on your inbound international flight, it’s best to buy it at an electronics store in the city before returning to the airport.

In summary, while the airport itself has limited options, the easiest way is to go to a nearby electronics retailer after exiting customs or order online for fast pick-up. Carry your purchase receipt to ensure compliance with airline regulations.
