River Crossing Wulingyuan

I fell crossing the river which is located on the right side of the bridge, the one on the right towards the ROUNDABOUT.NEEDEd hospitalisation, two areas of stitches, bruises around my right eyes. Praise JESUS, AS it could be much worst. My advice, don't cross using it. Just use the bridge as the slabs on the river is extremely slippery. Not worth the thrill. One wrong move can blind or. killed so pls be careful.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Safety is paramount when visiting natural sites like Wulingyuan, and your warning is very valuable for other travelers.

Based on your description, it seems the river crossing on the right side of the bridge near the roundabout is extremely slippery and hazardous. The slabs on the river can easily cause falls, which can result in serious injuries, as you unfortunately experienced.

Recommendations for other visitors:

  • Use the main bridge for crossing instead of attempting the slabs on the river. It is much safer and designed for pedestrian traffic.
  • Wear proper footwear with good grip if walking near rivers or wet rocks.
  • Pay attention to posted warnings or local guidance about dangerous spots.
  • Consider using walking sticks or asking for assistance if traveling with children, elderly, or anyone less sure-footed.

In general, thrill-seeking shortcuts in natural areas can be extremely risky. Your advice highlights that one wrong step can cause serious injury or worse. It's best to prioritize safety over adventure when the environment is slippery or unstable.

Finally, if anyone gets injured, seek medical attention immediately. Wulingyuan has nearby hospitals and clinics in Zhangjiajie city for emergencies.
