Tianmen Mountain Half day
Hi, For my last day i was going to see Tianmen Mountain however i have a flight out of Zhangjiajie airport at 17:30pm.
I will be based in Wulingyuan beforehand and was hoping to get to Tianmen Mountain for 07:30am. Will Didis be available that early in Wulingyuan for this?
Assuming i get to Tianmen Mountain early morning is there enough time to be able to complete Route A and be back to the airport on time?
Thanks
Visiting Tianmen Mountain from Wulingyuan on your last day with a 17:30 flight from Zhangjiajie Airport is possible, but it requires careful planning due to timing and transportation constraints.
Regarding transport from Wulingyuan to Tianmen Mountain:
- Didis (ride-hailing apps): Didi is available in Wulingyuan, but early morning availability (around 07:30) can be limited, especially for larger cars or rides suitable for multiple passengers. Booking in advance or asking your hotel to arrange a private car may be more reliable.
- Alternative transport: Hotels often provide private car or shuttle services to Tianmen Mountain. This may be safer for ensuring you leave early enough and avoid waiting for a ride.
- Travel time: The drive from Wulingyuan to Tianmen Mountain entrance is approximately 1–1.5 hours. Factor in possible morning traffic delays.
Regarding visiting Tianmen Mountain and completing Route A:
- Cable car: The Tianmen Mountain cable car is one of the longest in the world and takes around 30–40 minutes each way. Arriving early (around 08:30) ensures shorter waiting times.
- Route A: This is a relatively short walking route along the cliff-side pathways and glass walkways. Completing it typically takes 1–1.5 hours at a leisurely pace.
- Timing buffer: Assuming you start Route A by 09:00–09:30, you could finish by around 10:30–11:00, leaving enough time to descend, have a brief rest or snack, and start heading back to Zhangjiajie Airport by 11:30–12:00 at the latest.
Return to Zhangjiajie Airport:
- The drive from Tianmen Mountain to the airport is approximately 40–50 minutes, but with traffic or airport check-in, allow at least 1.5–2 hours.
- For a 17:30 flight, you would ideally leave Tianmen Mountain no later than 14:30–15:00 to allow for smooth airport arrival, check-in, and security.
- Considering morning start at 07:30 from Wulingyuan, you will have enough time to complete Route A at a relaxed pace and return to the airport with ample buffer.
In summary, the half-day Tianmen Mountain trip is feasible with a 17:30 flight. Early start and careful transport planning—preferably a pre-booked car or hotel-arranged ride—are key to ensuring a smooth experience without rushing.
