6 nights, need hotel near metro and advice for excursions
Hi everyone,
Going to be in Shanghai for 6 nights in August. We've been before therefore looking at trips out of the city to maybe Hangzhou. We also want to visit Disnelyland, therefore want to be close to the metro so we can move around quickly.
Can anyone recommend a good hotel that will allow us to get out of town conveniently on the train?
I have seen the Grand Central Hotel Shanghai
thanks
For a 6-night stay in Shanghai with easy access to both the metro and train stations for excursions like Hangzhou, it’s best to choose accommodation in central locations that are close to major metro lines and not far from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station or Shanghai Railway Station.
Hotel Recommendations:
- Grand Central Hotel Shanghai: Located near People’s Square and the metro hub, this hotel provides excellent access to central attractions and metro lines. From here, you can take the metro to both Shanghai Disneyland and train stations for day trips.
- Radisson Blu Hotel Shanghai New World: Near People’s Square, with easy metro access and walking distance to Nanjing Road for shopping and dining. Convenient for catching high-speed trains from Shanghai Railway Station.
- The Yangtze Boutique Shanghai: A smaller boutique option close to metro Line 2, allowing direct access to Hongqiao Railway Station and Disneyland via transfers.
- SSAW Boutique Hotel Shanghai Bund: Closer to the Bund area, metro access via Line 2 for train trips, and a good base for exploring the city and nearby water towns.
Excursions & Transport Tips:
- Hangzhou: Take the high-speed train from Shanghai Hongqiao Station (approx. 1 hour) for a day trip. Metro Line 2 connects you directly to Hongqiao Station.
- Shanghai Disneyland: Use Metro Line 11, which takes you directly to the park entrance. If staying near People’s Square, it may require one transfer.
- Water Towns (Zhujiajiao, Tongli): Accessible via metro and local buses or taxi. Zhujiajiao is easiest from Line 17 of the metro.
- City Exploration: Stay near Lines 1, 2, or 8 for efficient travel across major attractions like the Bund, Yu Garden, and French Concession.
Staying near People’s Square or along Metro Line 2 provides the best combination of central location, metro convenience, and access to trains for day trips. The Grand Central Hotel Shanghai fits this requirement well, offering comfortable accommodation with easy mobility across the city and beyond.
