First time in Shanghai and would like to stay 1 night before get on cruise at Baoshan port and on the last day, we have 6 hours ( from 7 am to 1pm) what/where should we do with our luggages.

Thanks

For your first night in Shanghai before boarding a cruise at Baoshan Port, and for your short 6-hour window on the last day, careful planning for accommodation and luggage storage will make your stay smooth and stress-free.

Accommodation suggestion for the night before the cruise:

  • Stay in a hotel near the Baoshan Port or northern Shanghai to minimize travel time to the cruise terminal the next morning. Options may include hotels in the Baoshan or Pudong area with easy taxi access.
  • Alternatively, you can stay near a central area like The Bund or People’s Square for a more scenic evening, but factor in longer transit to the port in the morning.
  • Choose hotels that offer luggage storage if you plan to explore Shanghai before heading to the cruise.

Handling luggage during your last 6-hour period (7 AM – 1 PM):

  • Most hotels allow you to store luggage even after check-out; confirm with the front desk when you arrive or at check-in.
  • Shanghai has airport-style luggage storage facilities at major metro stations, such as People’s Square, Lujiazui, and Shanghai Railway Station. These can store suitcases for several hours for a small fee.
  • You could consider using luggage storage services near tourist areas or metro stations that allow convenient pickup before heading to the airport or cruise terminal.

Activities for a short 6-hour window:

  • If you are staying centrally, consider a morning stroll along The Bund and Nanjing Road for a quick sightseeing and photo opportunity.
  • Visit Yu Garden and the surrounding Old City for a cultural experience within a limited timeframe.
  • If you prefer a relaxed breakfast and city vibe, explore nearby cafes or local markets before retrieving your luggage and heading to the port.

Practical tips:

  • Allow at least 1–1.5 hours to travel from central Shanghai to Baoshan Port, depending on traffic, to ensure timely boarding for your cruise.
  • Consider using taxis or ride-hailing apps like DiDi for quick and reliable transfers to and from your activities with luggage.

In summary, stay near either the cruise port for convenience or central Shanghai for sightseeing, store your luggage at your hotel or a metro luggage facility, and plan short, easy-to-access activities for the 6-hour window.
