Kea lani vs Marriott Beach Resort

Anyone have experience with the Fairmont Kea Lani vs Marriott Beach Resort and traveling with a teen? Been reading that some people have room troubles at the Marriott Beach Resort but that the location is great.

Thank you!

Both the Fairmont Kea Lani and the Marriott Maui Beach Resort are excellent options for a family vacation with a teen, but they offer different experiences, so it depends on what your priorities are.

The Fairmont Kea Lani is an all-suite, all-villa resort, which means larger rooms with full kitchens and living spaces. This setup is great for families who like more space, privacy, and the ability to prepare meals or snacks in-room. The resort has multiple pools, including a lagoon-style pool and a water slide, which teens tend to enjoy. The beachfront is beautiful, and there are several on-site dining options and activities like cultural programs, yoga, and tennis.

The Marriott Maui Beach Resort, on the other hand, is more of a traditional hotel resort with rooms that are generally smaller than the Fairmont suites. It is very centrally located in Kaanapali, close to Whalers Village shopping, restaurants, and beach access. The resort has a large pool area, water slides, and direct beach access, which can be convenient for teens. Some guests have reported issues with room layouts or that certain rooms feel dated, but the location and beachfront access make up for it for many families.

  • Fairmont Kea Lani: larger suite-style rooms, all-inclusive style of space, family-friendly pools, lagoon-style beach area, more privacy.
  • Marriott Maui Beach Resort: more central location in Kaanapali, smaller rooms, close to shops and restaurants, beach access right outside, large pool area.

For traveling with a teen, both resorts have amenities that will appeal to them. The Fairmont offers more space and privacy, which can be nice if you want downtime in the room. The Marriott’s location makes it easier to walk to restaurants, beach, and activities, which may appeal to a teen who wants more independence and access to local options.

  • Consider Fairmont if you value space, suites, and a quieter, self-contained resort experience.
  • Consider Marriott if you want immediate beach access, proximity to shopping and dining, and don’t mind slightly smaller rooms.

Ultimately, both are family-friendly and offer plenty of activities for teens. Your choice will depend on whether you prioritize resort space and privacy (Fairmont) or location and access to surrounding activities (Marriott).
