EVISA application

I submitted two visa applications yesterday and found that due to some system error spaces available between our names are missing. Basically, our names do not match with our passports (name is correct but in between spaces are not visible). I did not receive acknowledgement yet. Do I have to submit new applications or wait for a reply from HK immigration?

If you submitted your Hong Kong eVisa applications and noticed that spaces in your names are missing due to a system error, there are a few important points to consider before taking any further action.

1) Timing and acknowledgement:

  • Since you have not yet received an acknowledgement from HK Immigration, it is likely that your applications are still in the processing queue.
  • Minor formatting issues, such as missing spaces between names, are often recognized and corrected by immigration officers during processing, as long as the names match exactly with your passport in terms of spelling and order.

2) Recommended approach:

  • Do not submit new applications immediately. Multiple submissions may cause confusion or duplicate records, which can delay processing.
  • Wait for the official acknowledgement email or notification from Hong Kong Immigration. This usually arrives within 1–3 working days, depending on the volume of applications.
  • If you receive an acknowledgement but notice a problem, contact the Hong Kong Immigration Department immediately to clarify the name formatting issue.

3) Contacting HK Immigration:

  • You can reach out via their official email or helpline. Provide your passport details, the application reference number (if any), and clearly explain the system error regarding spaces in your names.
  • Do not worry excessively if the spaces are missing, as the key factor is that the names are otherwise correct and match your passport.

In summary, you should wait for the acknowledgement before taking any action. Only contact HK Immigration if there is no acknowledgement after a few days, or if you are specifically instructed to correct the formatting. Submitting new applications at this stage is unnecessary and could complicate your eVisa processing.
