Pink Jeep or Hot Air Balloon? Restaurant recs

Hello! My husband and I are staying 3 nights in sedona and 3 nights in phoenix at the end of November. I was really wanting to do a hot air balloon ride in Sedona … just seems like such a bucket list experience. But the idea of getting up so early and the fact that it will probably be very cold, has me second guessing if its worth it. We definitely want to do the Broken Arrow pink jeep tour however. Looking for opinions on the best time of day to do Pink Jeep Tour and do you guys think we will regret not doing the balloon?

Also looking for recommendations for lunch and dinner options. We are looking for casual, not too fancy. We love unique places that cant be found elsewhere. We are excited to have reservations for Elote cafe our first night.

Thanks for any suggestions! Our first trip to Arizonađź’—

Visiting Sedona in late November is a wonderful experience, with cooler temperatures and stunning fall-to-winter colors. Both the hot air balloon ride and the Pink Jeep tour offer unique perspectives of the red rocks, but they provide very different experiences.

Regarding the hot air balloon ride:

  • The ride is indeed an early morning activity, typically starting just after sunrise. November mornings can be quite chilly, often in the 30s–40s Fahrenheit, so dressing in layers is essential.
  • Despite the early wake-up and cold, many visitors say the experience is magical. Seeing Sedona’s red rock formations bathed in early light from above is breathtaking and unlike any other perspective.
  • If you’re comfortable with an early start and cold weather, the balloon ride is generally considered a “bucket list” experience you won’t regret. However, if you’re highly sensitive to cold or prefer a more relaxed morning, it might not feel as enjoyable.

For the Broken Arrow Pink Jeep Tour:

  • The best time of day is usually mid-morning (around 9:30–10:30 AM). By then, the light is great for photography, and the rock formations are well-lit without the harsh glare of midday.
  • Sunset tours are also beautiful, offering warm golden light and cooler temperatures, but note that some of the more adventurous trail sections may feel slightly more challenging as light fades.
  • The Pink Jeep tour is highly recommended regardless of when you go—it’s a thrilling ride with amazing views, and guides provide engaging commentary about the geology and history of Sedona.

Lunch and dinner recommendations in Sedona (casual and unique):

  • The Hideaway House: Cozy spot with pasta, pizza, and sandwiches, offering fantastic red rock views from the patio.
  • Indian Gardens Cafe & Market: Great for a relaxed breakfast or lunch with fresh ingredients and local flavor.
  • Creekside American Bistro: Offers casual American fare with scenic creekside seating.
  • Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill: A little more upscale but still casual, serving Latin-inspired dishes with panoramic views.
  • Local Juicery or Sedona Memories Bakery & Cafe: Perfect for a quick, casual bite while exploring the town.

Since you already have Elote Cafe for your first night, you’re off to a great start. For lunch, consider scheduling something light and casual before or after your Pink Jeep tour, allowing flexibility for sightseeing. If you do choose the balloon ride, plan a hearty breakfast after the flight to warm up and refuel.

Overall, if you’re excited about unique experiences, both the Pink Jeep and the balloon ride are worthwhile. The Jeep tour is easier and comfortable for any weather, while the balloon ride is unforgettable if you don’t mind the early, cold start. Sedona also has a rich culinary scene, so enjoy exploring casual, locally loved spots between adventures.
