My husband and I are traveling to Sedona in mid-May. We are experienced travelers, but our go-to is usually a beach. We realize everyone has his preference, but we would like to hear ideas about staying in a hotel/resort vs cabin/condo/vrbo. We want to be someplace with great views (we do know it's beautiful) where we can enjoy coffee, lots of walking, hiking, a pool if possible; we don't mind preparing some foods, but it will be nice to be somewhat close to restaurants. We will have a vehicle and plan to tour the recommended places. If possible, we would like to stay around $400 a night. We just don't know if the convenience of staying at a hotel outweighs maybe being a little further out in a more private setting. Thank you in advance for any help you may provide. We are so excited to see Sedona!
Sedona is a spectacular destination, and mid-May is a wonderful time to visit with pleasant temperatures and beautiful red rock scenery. Choosing between a hotel/resort or a cabin/condo/VRBO depends on your priorities—privacy, views, amenities, and convenience. Here’s a breakdown to help you decide:
Hotels and Resorts: Staying at a resort or hotel provides convenience, amenities, and often breathtaking views without needing to manage logistics. Many offer pools, on-site dining, and easy access to guided tours. Resorts can also provide a central base for exploring the main attractions without worrying about maintenance or cooking.
Cabins, Condos, and VRBOs: These offer more privacy, flexibility, and the chance to prepare your own meals. Many are tucked into quiet locations with incredible red rock vistas. However, some may be further from restaurants or stores, so having a vehicle is key. It’s a good option if you value tranquility and a home-like atmosphere.
Other Tips:
Overall, if convenience, pools, and amenities are a priority, a hotel/resort may be preferable. If you prefer privacy, space, and flexibility, a cabin or VRBO in scenic areas is an excellent choice. Both options provide stunning views and easy access to Sedona’s unique landscape.
