Shenzhen hotels

Hi, am thinking of going to Shenzhen (perhaps 3-4 days), and wanting to partially explore the city and also sleep at a nice hotel.

I've narrowed down the selection to the following hotel chains:

Jw marriott baoan

Jw marriott shenzhen

Sheraton nanshan

Intercontinental wecc

Intercontinental shenzhen

Intercontinental dameisha

Kempinski shenzhen

Which would you recommend? Nice breakfast would be a bonus,as well as your thoughts on the executive lounge.,

other suggestions are appreciated- local hotels are ok too.

Shenzhen offers a wide range of international and local hotels, each with different advantages depending on your priorities such as location, comfort, breakfast quality, and executive lounge facilities. Here’s a breakdown of the options you listed:

1. JW Marriott Bao’an

  • Located near the airport (Bao’an District), convenient if you have an early flight or want to explore the airport area.
  • Executive lounge is well-reviewed with a good selection of drinks and snacks; breakfast is generally nice but smaller compared to city hotels.
  • Not ideal for central Shenzhen sightseeing as it is far from the main city attractions.

2. JW Marriott Shenzhen

  • Located in Futian, close to shopping malls, metro, and central business district.
  • Excellent breakfast with a wide variety, including Western and Chinese options.
  • Executive lounge has spacious seating and evening drinks/food service, very comfortable for business or leisure stays.

3. Sheraton Nanshan

  • Located in Nanshan District near tech hubs (like Shenzhen University, Tencent HQ) and close to Sea World area.
  • Good breakfast with international and Chinese cuisine; slightly smaller than JW Marriott’s offering.
  • Executive lounge is decent but not as luxurious as JW Marriott or Intercontinental; good for casual use.

4. Intercontinental WECC (Futian)

  • Located in the central business district; convenient for Futian CBD, shopping, and metro access.
  • Breakfast is highly rated with wide choices; lounge is spacious and elegant, ideal for relaxing after city sightseeing.

5. Intercontinental Shenzhen

  • Close to the Convention & Exhibition Center; great for business travelers and city sightseeing.
  • Breakfast is excellent; executive lounge offers good views and a variety of drinks/snacks.

6. Intercontinental Dameisha

  • Located in Dameisha, near the beach; ideal if you want a resort-style stay rather than city exploration.
  • Breakfast is very good; executive lounge is smaller but has a pleasant view of the sea.
  • Far from central Shenzhen, so not ideal if your priority is sightseeing in the city.

7. Kempinski Shenzhen

  • Located in Futian CBD, near major malls and metro stations.
  • Breakfast is upscale and highly praised; executive lounge is excellent with attentive service and evening cocktails.

Recommendations:

  • For central city exploration, shopping, and metro access: JW Marriott Shenzhen, Intercontinental WECC, Intercontinental Shenzhen, or Kempinski Shenzhen are top choices.
  • If you want a resort-style or beachside stay: Intercontinental Dameisha.
  • If convenience for airport is key: JW Marriott Bao’an.
  • Executive lounges at JW Marriott Shenzhen, Intercontinental WECC, and Kempinski Shenzhen are considered the best for comfort, food, and service.

Other local hotel suggestions that balance quality and local flair include:

  • Shenzhen OCT Harbour hotels – boutique style with good city views.
  • Hyatt Regency Shenzhen Airport – convenient for flights, modern facilities.
  • Marco Polo Shenzhen – centrally located, comfortable with good breakfast.

Overall, for a 3–4 day city-focused trip, staying in Futian or Nanshan will give you the best combination of sightseeing convenience, nice breakfast, and a quality executive lounge experience.
