Spa and dining recommendations in lowu

my teenage son and l would love to visit lowu travelling from hkg soon. we love to go to a spa that has facilities like pool / snooker tables, swimming sauna, fruit buffet, menu food good quality, even a gym. l been to Oriental Palm Spring International Club before, that was fine but dont think they had pool / snooker. l heard Queen spa and dining are recommended. l know there is one right by the lowu / hkg crossing called 'xin mei zi' spa and dining. that seems fair and requires a minimum spend of 148rmb per person. the fruit buffet is only a small selection of oranges, melon and dragon fruit. dinner there seems mediocre and pricey. love to hear your suggestions and if you are free we can do together even!

thanks

Visiting Louwu from Hong Kong can be a fun day trip, especially if you’re looking for a spa experience combined with dining and leisure activities. Since you are looking for a spa that caters to both adults and teenagers with amenities like a pool, gym, snooker tables, fruit buffet, and decent food, here are some detailed recommendations:

1. Queen Spa & Dining

  • One of the more highly recommended spas in Louwu with comprehensive facilities.
  • Includes a swimming pool, sauna, gym, and entertainment areas such as snooker or table games.
  • Offers a broader fruit selection than some smaller spas, often including seasonal fruits.
  • Dining is generally considered better quality compared to Xin Mei Zi, with a wider menu.
  • Minimum spend per person may apply, so check in advance for current pricing.

2. Xin Mei Zi Spa and Dining

  • Conveniently located near the Louwu / Hong Kong border crossing.
  • Small fruit buffet (oranges, melon, dragon fruit), limited selection.
  • Dining quality is considered average, with higher pricing relative to portion and taste.
  • Minimum spend requirement: 148 RMB per person.
  • Facilities include basic spa and massage services, but fewer entertainment options like snooker or pool compared to Queen Spa.

3. Alternative options in Louwu / Shenzhen area

  • Check out some larger wellness clubs or hotel spas that allow day visitors. Many upscale Shenzhen hotels near the border offer day-pass access to pools, gyms, saunas, and buffets.
  • Oriental Palm Spring International Club (as you’ve experienced) – if you prefer the familiar environment but want to check if seasonal upgrades include pool or snooker.
  • Some newer spas in Louwu area advertise full leisure facilities including swimming pools, gyms, fruit and dessert buffets, and casual dining options. It is worth calling ahead to confirm amenities for families.

4. Tips for visiting Louwu spas from Hong Kong:

  • Bring ID and be prepared for border crossing requirements, as Louwu is just across from Hong Kong.
  • Check opening hours and minimum spend requirements before visiting to avoid surprises.
  • Booking in advance is recommended, especially for weekends or holidays, as popular spas can get crowded.
  • If your teenage son is joining, confirm that the spa’s facilities are family-friendly and allow teenagers in pool or recreation areas.

Overall, Queen Spa seems to offer the most complete experience for a family day out in Louwu. Xin Mei Zi is convenient for a quick visit but limited in amenities and dining quality. Exploring larger hotel spas in Louwu or nearby Shenzhen could give you a premium experience with more variety in leisure and dining.
